I was wondering if there's any people that either know ASMR or have felt it.

From the wiki: Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) is a neologism for a perceptual phenomenon characterized as a distinct, pleasurable tingling sensation in the head, scalp, back, or peripheral regions of the body in response to visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory, or cognitive stimuli. The nature and classification of the ASMR phenomenon is controversial, with a considerable cult following and strong anecdotal evidence to support the phenomenon but little or no scientific explanation or verified data.

It's something that mostly manifests during childhood (with experiences like lice checking in school, getting read a book, watching someone do something slowly and deliberately) but can be developed later in life, as well.

I use ASMR video's on YouTube to fall asleep or relax to, and it's changed my life in many (positive) ways. I've also started my own channel and produce these video's myself :3.

Anyway, any people on Subeta that have some experiences with it? Maybe link your fave video's etc.

My former coworkers were actually talking about this the other day. One of them called it a 'headgasm'. Fairly certain I've never experienced such a thing myself. It's an interesting phenomenon though.

When I was little, I actually liked having a lice check! Not only does it feel good, but it's a great excuse to get out of the classroom!

I still experience this when I brush my hair or listening to someone whisper! Even thinking about it triggers it! >w<

- Awesome! I looooooooved the lice checks so much haha. So relaxing and a nice break indeed! Lot's of things 'trigger' me or get me extremely relaxed. Almost like I'm hypnotized/under trance. I watch a lot of ASMR video's for that reason, specially before sleep.

There's a name for it? IT'S A THING? NOT EVERYONE EXPERIENCES IT? Holy shit I had NO idea. I've experienced ASMR in many situations all my life and I always wondered what that feeling was. I actually even confused it with sexual excitement sometimes, but it's nothing like that. o.o

For me, it's triggered by someone playing with my hair (especially small parts of it - like braiding or just playing with a lock of it), watching a cat sniff something (it's even more intense if the cat sniffs me, that's basically my biggest ASMR trigger ever), whispering, watching someone do something very carefully (like applying makeup or shaving a beard), and someone lightly touching my neck or eyebrows. There are probably more that I can't think of right now.

Thank you for creating this thread. I feel so enlightened now that I can name that feeling, and I realized that after a stressful day I can sit down and listen to a YouTube video of someone whispering, and feel good again. I have trouble falling asleep, so I might try some videos for that too.

Everyone has different triggers and for some the sensation is different too :3. I don't get real 'tingles' but mostly an extremely heavy feeling, completely in trance and very relaxing and nice.

The feeling when someone plays with my hair is divine! And I really, really love cat purring (even though I'm actually allergic to them, boo.)

There's tons of video's, literally millions I think by now. If you look for certain triggers you'll find it fore sure (look for haircut RP if you like hair stuff and so on~)
