I just finished my pumpkin for the pumpkin carving contest on here. I'm pretty proud of it, lol. I put a lot of work into it anyways. But I wanted to get a lot of light inside so the picture would turn out nice, so I put two candles inside (votive size). I lit them, put the top on, took the picture, and went about my merry way. I was really enjoying the scent of the candles, they smelled like apple pie. Glanced at the pumpkin while I was making my entry and saw a bit of smoke coming from the top. Picked up the top. Went 'holy shit'. Yeah, it was kind of burning, and it's got two black spots on the inside of the top. Thought the smell was pretty strong for crappy dollar store candles, lol. So now it's just sitting there with the top off, and it definitely doesn't smell as strong. Well, I hope my entry wins one of the three spots, anyways! I SHOULD GET 'I ALMOST DIED' POINTS! :D

Another funny thing happened while I was carving it, actually. I heard somewhere that pumpkin is good for cats. And one of my cats is notorious for eating anything. So I gave her a tiny piece of the 'guts' and she went crazy. She sniffed it once and then gobbled it up like it was the best thing she'd ever had, purring like mad. I didn't give her any more, cause I didn't know if it'd really be good for her or not. But I thought it was hilarious that my cat ate pumpkin guts. XD

We opted to use a little battery light instead of a live candle, turned off all the lights and hoped for the best!

Pumpkin helps ease up puppy and kitty digestion, especially if they have a tummy ache or are constipated. ;D It's not something to feed them every day, but everyone once in awhile is okay.

And that's some cool info about the pumpkin, . I'll have to remember that if one of my furkids has an upset tummy.

@ Lisa That would be where you should put vent holes. lol Also could be that you have a too small pumpkin/ too large of candle or in your case too many.
