I'm suggesting that the zapper ignores an empty inventory.
"You had no items on hand! Lucky you! ;)" I think we should get rid of that and make the zapper only go for items if you have one in your inventory. It doesn't try to zap your pet's minion unless one is equipped, so why not only zap items if one is there?
I'd like this. It always feels like a useless turn when I get that :c
Same. Even when the zapper malfunctions you get something, a little sP or a treasure slot. This one is a waste.
What would replace the failed zap event, then? It seems as though the intent is to have some other kind of event there, otherwise this seems like a suggestion to just change the wording into "nothing happens" or something similar. What kind of event?
I don't know the coding requirements, but how easy is it to code it so it recognizes an empty inventory? Zapping and encountering nothing isn't the same as recognizing an empty inventory vs. an occupied one.
As it is, I don't mind the event. I mind more when I forget to empty my inventory and get something zapped. xD
I don't want a new event in it's place, that is not my intent at all.
It would just not show up. The zapped minion event doesn't show up if your pet does not have a minion. If they can code to recognize a minion, then why not recognize and empty inventory?
Also not attacking you at all, but I'm kinda sick of the "how hard would it be to code?" excuse coming up in suggestion threads. If it's impossible to code then I'm sure a programmer would tell us that. That's not for us to decide. >_<
That was me trying to cover all the potential bases I could think of. Sounds like that yeah, upon clarification, a rewrite to "nothing happens" is what's being suggested. That's cool. I'd support that, the current text is pretty confusing.
Yeah, the coding thing comes up a lot, but in my case I think it's worth bringing up as food for thought if only to help streamline the suggestion. I don't know, I feel that a suggestion that has considered coding issues and takes that into account stands a better chance of getting implemented.
I take your point about waiting for a programmer to weigh in, though. Often it seems as though the coding thing is used as a tool to try to shut down discussion. :c
I appreciate you adding to the discussion. :) I think though that I'm still not being clear on what I want, not a rewrite at all. If you zap a pet and it has a minion, there is a chance that the zapper will turn the minion into slime. If you zap a pet and it does not have a minion, the zapper never shows the minion event.
I'm suggesting the same with your inventory. If you zap a pet and you have an item in your inventory, there is a chance the zapper will turn an item into dust. If you don't have any items in your inventory, then the zapper should never show the inventory event.
I hope that makes more sense?
Also LOL @ waiting for Godot I'm not so sure about the easy coding thing being an issue. If people really want it to happen and it is a good suggestion then it shouldn't be denied because it is "too hard to code". I'm sure that some things are difficult to code, but that doesn't mean it should be dismissed because of that. Impossible coding =/= difficult coding. I'm not a programmer as well, so I don't think it's right for me to discuss something I know very little about.
I...think so? Sorry it's taking me a while to wrap my head around it, I think I'm just too literal today. xD So you're saying that instead of offering up the "good thing you didn't have anything in your inventory" we want them to unselect that option from the possible zapper choices so that it literally doesn't even exist.
Gah, I get it now. facepalm Yes, I like this idea.
NEED MOAR COFFEE
Actually, the more I think about your comments, the more I agree with it, as awkward as it is to realize I've got some work to do on my own posting behaviors. xD Coming in with "hey coding worries etc etc" is almost concern trolling mini modding micromanaging, isn't it?
Because well-intentioned or not, it does tend to derail the suggestion somewhat, doesn't it? That's a really good point. Thanks. :)
Yes please. This would make the zapper more useful for those that have clean inventories. c:
Why get rid of the probability just because you dont fit the profile? I rather have the 'lucky you' zapper dialogue than it saying that 'nothing happened' . Its only 15 tokens folks!
I support this soooo much. If the pet doesn't have a minion, the "zapped minion" is no longer an option for the Zapper. So, if your inventory is empty, than the "zapped item" should no longer be an option.
I've been zapping a pet for YEARS to get the correct experiment (being literal here, it has been probably close to 3 years, since I took a year off), and it would be nice to not waste a zap on an empty inventory.
Though, the zapper missing my pet entirely and hitting my inventory (which I imagine is kind of like our pockets or something?) has always seemed odd. Like, seriously? You have THAT bad of aim? lol
Eh, its one quest from the wiz. Not a huge deal. Its slightly frustrating, but not something that I think really needs to be changed. You can't win them all.
