So, I got assigned to a new project a while ago. Everything's fine, the colleagues are very nice and we help a lot each other. And then there's...let's call him stareguy. He's 40 - 45 years old and...oh lord. I used to sit next to him and he has a lot of annoying habits, one of them is staring constantly at me. Wherever I go, whenever I just want to stand up...he stares. But not that "hey, I like you" kinda stare, but the...empty, staring into a void stare. Meaningless. And tbh, it drives me crazy to no end. He just turns around his chair and then he goes all O_O. It makes me nervous and I can't even properly work right because of this.
And if that's not enough, he makes every 30 seconds a fricking snort sound like snortsnortsnortSNOOOORT. It makes me cringe to no end. okay, maybe he's sick but he could at least take a napkin or such. Oh, and he talks a lot of meaningless stuff like "I have a coca cola lunchbox, but how am I supposed to fit a bottle of coke into my lunchbox? ISN'T THAT CRAZY?!?! HAHAHAHA SNOOOOORT". I mean...no. Just no. cringe. Oh, and stareguy smells like death and cheese.
At least I don't have to sit next to him anymore, I got another seating place in this team. But now the one who's sitting next to him is complaining about the same stuff...heh. So, how about you? Do you have...well...weird colleagues? And how would you deal with this situation?
This is just one of those situations where you have to accept someone's differences. He might not be an ideal coworker, but it sounds like he's harmless.

I had a weird classmate in college once. He was constantly trying to make jokes randomly, kind of like your stare guy, but he always smiled really big and his teeth were totally rotting away in his mouth and he always had a pop and when he wasn't making stupid jokes that made no sense he was talking about the HOURS or DAYS he spent playing video games that no one had heard of. =P
I knew a guy in college that was always looking at me and randomly played with my keychains on my backpack. I started talking to him and discovered that he had a disability and that he was a pretty cool and funny dude in the end.
Wow, that sounds creepy as hell. Perhaps he's just socially awkward. I know someone who could be like that but he could clearly stare at yours breasts. All the time and everyone knew about it.
I had a talk with him because we got close to each other and he said that he likes to do that because no one will ever say a thing and he likes to be noticed. I am like "you're fucked up, dude". But he also said he wants to stop doing it so I kind of helped him and well, at least he stopped watching me. He's a nice guy in general but he got real mental issues, lifes medicated and it's uunderstandable. He's a handsome boy even if a little chubby. Guess that kind of helps him. Kind of....

Sometimes I'm the one who void-stares. .__.
It could be one of those cases in which he's not really clear about his habits. Try to approach him and talk to him about his... inclinations. Maybe he'll eventually become more conscientious. If not, run for the hills.
I love the term "stareguy" and am asking permission to use it :)
Sometimes, I tend to start daydreaming and I void-stare people without realizing it. I apologize though, when I notice lol I don't know if that's the case for your colleague though since you're saying he actually turns around to stare. That's just creepy.
If he really makes you uncomfortable, you could speak about it to a supervisor? Maybe they could have a talk to them about their staring and bad odors...personally I would subtly slip the guy some deodorant and breath mints but that's just me (bad smells make me gag very easily).
Oh god, that sounds pretty terrible. My boss sorta does something like that... except she's nosey as fuck. Any time someone moves in the office, walks by or makes some sort of strange noise she stops working to stare. And good lord, if someone stops anywhere near our area with someone else to have a conversation you can see the strain on her face of her trying to listen in.
