Ok, so I have this cat, had him for 6 years, wild as a boar, not wanting to be bothered, pet, approached, talked to, heck, not even look at! For SIX years!! Given up on him lately, pet all the other cats around him, just put a plate of food in front of him and that's it, no "aww, coo, boo, poo-poo-teedoo, baby kittieeee, etc", nothing. Still did it to all others though, while petting them. Today I did the same, he comes to ME, strongly rubs his head against my hand and goes like "MEOW!" I'm here too! I pet him, not only he stays, he rubs his head on me, kissing my hand....aww, I just died a little there, I mean after SIX years?! What, like he jealous now?! :D
It takes some cats a long time to deal with things that happened to them in the past or to get over things. Do you know where he was or what happened to him before you had him? He could have been abused or maybe feral or abandoned and that can really change a cat (as it can a person) and take them a while to get over. Good on you for sticking with him though and finally gaining his trust. :)
I have two cats, Holly and Emma, and they're both strange little creatures. Adorable and smart and the best cats in the world, but they sure have their own little idiosyncrasies that sometimes drive me nuts, lol. Holly demands hold-me-time sometimes, usually with my mom, where she will jump on you when you're sitting down and climb onto your chest and cry until you put your arms around her to hold her. Then she licks your cheek or neck or arm and purrs. Emma, she will cry at whoever's in the kitchen to make you watch her eat. She likes it when you just stand there and wait while she eats her dry food. She also loves oranges (which she shouldn't have and doesn't get more than a pinch of if someone's eating one) and peaches. If anyone cuts a peach in the kitchen, it doesn't matter where she is in the house, she will come running from wherever she is and bounce around your legs, meowing until you give her a piece.
I have a feral rescue cat who can be extremely standoffish, but about two times a day she'll go on a love-spree and walk around my husband and I in circles and cry for attention. Any other time of day, she hates us :P Been like this ever since she hit adulthood.

OMG!, Lol, your cats sound awesome, so funny and aww...If Emma can have babies and has a girl, you could name her Peaches :D
My cat, the one I'm talking about, was 2 months when I rescued him, he was very sick and his mommy abandoned him. He pull through, so I named him Victor, for his victory :D So yeah, what you said I guess makes sense, he was quite friendly up to one year, but then I had to neuter the poor dear, so maybe that was the trigger...I am sorry, but it had to be done, he is an indoor only cat and I have 12 more indoor, all neutered, can't afford to have lil kitties all over the place :D I'll move outside :D
Thanks for the advice and patience :)
Aww...how sweet, she knows how to make it count :D Thanks for posting :)
Why would you apologize for neutering your cat? Everyone should have their pets spayed/neutered. There are far too many homeless critters out there. I would call them 'unwanted', but there's no such thing as an unwanted animals, imo, because I want them all, lol.
I have two dogs and they're both nuts in their own way. The older one is getting less nutty in her old age but the younger guy is still a pup and therefore pants-on-head-retarded. He does the cutest little thing where he will lay his stupid dog lips on my hand when he wants attention. It kills me.
So true! That's why I did it, I mean I have a yard cat, she had 7 kitties! But they're rather wild, they come to eat only after I left. :)
Hehe, so funny! I have 3 dogs too, each more retarded then the next! :D So yeah, I know the feeling :)
I think the stupidity is that makes them so charming and loved. If they weren't so stupid and if I had the slightest inkling they could take care of themselves, I'm not sure if I'd ever want one furry creature crashing at my house, let alone multiple. :P
i had a kitty named punk'in. he would tense up if you picked him up during the day but at night he was all cuddles.... and drool.
I miss that kid.
My kitty now she's a cuddler through and through.

I think it's actually cute. He's totally jealous of the other cats. But again, those are just human feelings I am blaming on him. Who knows.

Oh, that's part of it for sure, I mean there's no day going by without them making me ROFL :D
Aww...cute name too...
OMG, that makes SO much sense, I always assume they have human feelings and thoughts, which actually are in my head :D At least now I get it and will - try - not to do it so often :D
