I cannot for the life of me remember what is and isnt safe when using the zapper. I know it can zap a random item in your inventory and I am pretty sure your minion can also be zapped, but is there anything else at risk, like treasure chest or equipped weapons?

TC and equipment are safe. Your pet can have her stats zapped up or down, this appears to be random now so this is a risk.
