Having all the pets in the Adoption Center cleared out at once is kind of lame. It doesn't really resolve the issue of ugly pets with names like NarutoFace666 clogging things up because more pets like that are always added, and then they just sit there taking up space until the Adoption Center is cleared out again. Also, it sucks having all potentially cool pets in the Adoption Center deleted, and the post-clearing Adoption Center is pretty sparse and boring.

What if instead, pets were automatically deleted after being in the Adoption Center for a set amount of time? A pet could be dropped off, held in the Adoption Center for like 30 days, then be automatically deleted. That way the clearing would be staggered, pets nobody wants wouldn't sit there for months, and pets people do want wouldn't be deleted.

PS please don't be mean if this is dumb or has been suggested a million times before, I'm terrified that this is the worst idea ever and that I'm actually stupid. I just really want something like this to happen.

I think this is a great idea :) The adoption center had something like 3k+ pets when it was cleared last week, that's way too many to be in there at once. At the moment it only gets cleared whenever staff remembers about it which isn't all that often. I really like the idea of an auto-delete for the pound. If it isn't too much of a strain each pet could also have a time/date stamp of when they will get deleted.

I like both ideas, the OP and the time stamp thing. Some pets just will never be adopted. That's that. And there's no point in letting them sit there for years.

Some people are obsessed with pet birthdates and pet ID numbers (I'll never understand why) but if the pets had a time stamp indicating when they're to be deleted then those people could check the ones closest to death and save any they see fit. There could even be a new sorting order- sort by deletion date, to make it easier.

Totally agree with this! Even if they impose a huge time out like 6 months or something, there are pets that had been in the old center for eternity, even a tiny clean up limit would be great.

And people will hate me for this but I'd also kinda like to see a limit on adopting pets. It sort of defeats the point when people adopt and abandon painted pets 10 times in a row (which is why the center was cleared in the first place I believe).

I support this idea 100%, not only because you're my friend and I told you I'd blindly support whatever you said, but also because this actually sounds like a good idea.

I've only been here a short time but I like this idea and would love to see this implemented. I stalked the adoption center trying to find the perfect pets and I did, but, having not found the search option at the time, rummaging through 3k+ pets was time consuming. And most do have some unsavory names and will sit there for an eternity.

I would think the timer on this would work the same as it does for resorts or anything else on site that has a time limit. The only difference being rather than us starting the timer by interaction, such as playing games or making alerts for things pet related, I think this timer would need to be set up to notice the so called "dismissal" of a pet from our accounts. Also I enjoy the date stamp of a pets last day chance to adopt and maybe it can be like the banners for account clearings? This is because some do still have coding on them and a banner would be on the forefront of the page over any codes at all.

This seems simple enough and can also help cycle out those names no person wants a bit sooner than when staff can remember.

FINALLY GOT THE 15K WARDROBE DONE!!!!! Next up gutting and selling it.

Yay! I'm so glad this isn't the worst idea ever!

— the idea of having a date stamp for a pet's last chance to adopt is awesome too. That way there are no surprises, and everyone knows how long they have to make up their mind about whether or not they feel like adopting a pet c:

Support for this. There were good pets in the AC just before clearing, but sadly they did not have a chance due to unfortunate timing.

I, too, like this idea. However, instead of the word "delete" or "deletion" how about using the word "release"? When was in the SB the day the AC got cleared she said that the Adoption Center releases the pets back into the wild. It just...sounds better how she puts it XD Otherwise it makes it sound like they're all being euthanized XD

I support this. :) 30 days even sounds reasonable - if the pet isn't adopted after 30 days, the chances are pretty low that it'll get adopted at all, and keeping the AC under wraps will clear up a lot of unnecessary space-eating that the 3k pets were taking up before the clearing.

The only thing I see this conflicting with is people who like low IDs. A certain pet ID gets deleted, you can't get it again.

I would love for this to be a thing. I never liked the current system of mass clear-outs because of newly-abandoned pets getting deleted along with the ones that have been sitting there getting stale for weeks. Having each pet deleted within its own individual time frame would be a huge improvement.
