After 9 attempts to install, I finally got 3DS Max 2015 on my computer!!!! I'M SO STOKED

Now if only this heat wave would end, so I could run it without being unnecessarily cruel to my laptop.

lol, at first i thought you were talking about something related to the nintendo 3ds, like an emulator or something. i got really excited for a sec! but anyway, congrats on what looks like a pretty cool piece of software! it's always satisfying when you finally install a program that had been a complete pain in the butt to deal with.

3DS is really cool program. I did a university degree on it (or more specifically, creating video games (art side, not programming)) I could never get my head around 3DS though ;n; Well, I could create a simple model and I could texture it, but unwrapping it was hell and don't get me started on rigging it ;n;

So you're more concept then, or? ;v; I'm a game art major for 3D character modeling right now, actually. Haha yeah, that stuff can be pretty tough! I've only done one rig for a character, and that was awful. I find auto-riggers much more useful than doing it by hand, but I have very limited experience with it for now.

I just started another prop last night, too. I would keep messing with the textures on this one but I gotta put more effort for my future stuff instead.

Those textures look amazing A and the lighting too. Wow you're really good! It is suuch a fun course/major to do! Honestly I had so much fun and writing the dissertation was really fun (for me haha, and I did do it all 3 days before hand in) It was just the unwrapping and rigging that got to me. We had to do our own rigging, we couldn't use any auto riggers but our teacher has had industry experience (He worked on the early PS1 wipeout games) and he really helped us out.

I am more of a concept artist, definitely. My concepts are looaaaads better than my 3D work. I'm also pretty good at 2D work but I find that tedious so I haven't done a lot on that. Some of my concepts from my final project

Well, we had to do our own rigging too (Technically -- We'd do it ourselves, but it wasn't working out so when we went to put our character in a game, we had to get a more effective rig.) Yeah? c: I think all of my teachers are in the industry, actually. Almost all of them are actively working. o3o It's great to learn from people who know what's on the up and up.

Neato! By 2D work do you mean like production 2D vectors/animating, if you're not including the concepting?

I'm taking a lot of concept courses this semester, it's hard on me HAHA because it's strenuous for me to do idea work, I kind of prefer working from other people's concepts.

I'm in my first semester of sophomore year right now, I'll be graduating after spring of 2017 ideally LOL

Edit: also, you're talking in the past tense about your education so you completed the course, but you're not doing games now?

Yep, I graduated earlier this year and I'm currently out of work =u=' heh.. Some of the better students are also out of work too so I don't feel like rushing to get into industry. I'm currently looking for simple jobs to get me by, but I'm working on a tablet app right now. It's still a work in progress and no where near finished yet. It'd be a 2D animated thing since that's what I'm better at.

Uni sounds a lot different where you live. I studied in UK and all the classes and such were all rolled into one course so we had to do certain units that were already chosen for.

I take it you're studying in America? It sounds like it is really self motivated and self driven.

HAHA well I mean if you're passionate about it, you should push for it! I really hope I can get a job soon after graduating, not sure what I'll do if not LOL I'd rather not be a house cleaner anymore

HAHA yeah, the education systems are pretty different I think. I'm also not at a university,though. I'm at an art and design school. I'm not sure what you mean that they were all rolled into one course? o3o I mean I have specific classes I need to take, too, which is why I'm in a load of concept stuff. Well, I probably would have taken it anyway.

I hope you'll get a job quickly too ^.^ I think part of mine and my class mates problems is location, since some are not ready to move to London or other places that have game studios. Mine was also not technically a uni, but a uni course? (I studied at a college but it was funded by a uni)

It sounds like it'd be really cool to take different classes. I'd just do tones of life drawing and concepting rather than the 3D stuff =u=
