Dear Subeta,

I'm calling on you today for a very personal matter. Two days ago, 9/10/14, my (ex)stepfather passed away after a never ending battle with cancer (you can read about his battle on the GoFundMe page linked below). He may not have legally been my stepdad anymore, but he had been in my life for 10+ years before my mother split from him. We've been left in a bit of a sticky situation.

He had no life insurance, no medicare/medicaid, and the state has denied help for funeral expenses. My stepsister has been denied for loans. We've tried various charities and organizations in town. For a while, it seemed we wouldn't get any help to raise the $7000 for funeral expenses.

However, yesterday, a different funeral home than the one they originally intended to go through, offered a huge discount in light of the poor financial situation we find ourselves in. They will take care of everything for $2256.

A benefit and a bake sale are being planned for down the line, but if we tried to throw it together now we're sure we'd pay more out of pocket than we would make, and that completely defeats the purpose. So here I am, begging from the bottom of my heart for your help.

I am not asking for you to open your wallet (if you want to/can, that's great! But I know times are tough for a lot of people). Please. Please, please, please, please. I beg of you. Share our GoFundMe webpage on any social media you partake in! The more widely this is spread, the better.

I'm sorry for your loss, years ago my Grandfather died of lung cancer, sadly I was two years old and never got to know him. I've shared this on my Facebook so hopefully someone sees it and can donate, I wish I could do more =(.
