Next week my partner and I will be celebrating our 10 year anniversary. Honestly, I am having a lot of feelings about it. It feels like a big deal, and it is, but at the same time, it feels like not nearly as important as the fact that after 10 years we've finally reached a point in our lives where it feels like we're starting our life together. After 7 years of long distance we're finally living together with plans to do so until we die. That said, it is a milestone anniversary that we've been looking forward to celebrating together since our ninth anniversary, lol.

I'm not sure what we're doing yet, though. We tend to take untraditional routes in our relationships and neither of us have a lot of extra cash to spend on any extravagant celebrating. I have some ideas of what I'd like to do (I'm not posting them here because they have a subeta too) but I'm really curious about what other people like to do for anniversaries.

So. Milestone anniversaries: Have you had any? What do you feel about them? How do you like to celebrate them?

It's kind of funny, because I've been wondering the same thing about me and my boyfriend's 1 year anniversary coming up next week. Like you guys, we don't have money to spend on going out. Also, I feel like gifts aren't necessary to show that you love your partner. The only gift I want is to spend next weekend with my bf.

There's no need to follow tradition. Do what you guys find special, whatever it may be.

Edit: I'm no longer with my boyfriend, but I still have the same view on anniversaries.

My boyfriend and I have never celebrated anniversaries. One reason is that we don't really have one... another is that we don't really care. XD At the end of every summer, I think "wow, we're already known each other for X years", but that's pretty much it.

Oh my gosh, happy anniversary to you both! 10 years, what a beautiful thing. Kudos to 7 years of long distance, I know how tough that can be. My boyfriend and I have been together for 6 years and we haven't done too much for our anniversaries. However, I randomly decide I want to go to different states/beaches/locations on normal days with him so I guess we waste our money before our anniversary, whoops!

Congratulations! Every anniversary my bf takes us to this beautiful golf resort in the country and we have brunch. It's very romantic, they have live performers playing restful music, and the food is just amazing :)

my boyfriend and i drove out to cape cod for a weekend and stayed at a cheap motel we booked on travelocity the night before so it wasn't actually extravagant but was really nice way to spend our anniversary.

10 years is awesome, congrats! My husband and I haven't had any real milestones yet, just 2 years so far. April will be 3. We actually both forgot our anniversary this year because work was so stressful. Hopefully we'll have money to do something really special on our 5th, like a vacation to a faraway place.
