What happens if I commission someone for an item, they complete it but it gets denied for some reason say stray pixels. The artist agrees to fix it but then goes AWOL for a few months. Am I SOL on this?
You could always have another user fix it, if you can find someone to. Personally I would warn the original artist first if you could, just in case (like if they've been online but not replying to you or something as opposed to not even being online)
- The problem is I paid this particular artist already, I don't want to have to pay for the same thing all over again. I can't tell if the person's been online recently or not but I know they've done other commissions as I've seen the cws they've drawn. I've been smailing/commenting this person since the middle of June and the last response I got was that they were going to fix it. Then nothing. POOF. Its a bit frustrating to think that I'm out $20 when I could use that money to commission another artist.
If it's been an unreasonable time frame with no communications I'd pm or comment them you're taking your commission elsewhere. There's no reason they can't even make a mass forum and ping anyone they are making art for to let them know what's going on. So worst case you can always make a ticket for staff to help you look into this and how to best resolve it. I just hope you've made no payments yet so you aren't SOL
EDIT: Saw you say you already paid them. So I'd make a ticket and get staff involved now.
FINALLY GOT THE 15K WARDROBE DONE!!!!! Next up gutting and selling it.
- Thank you, I think I'll do that. I just didn't want to come across as kind of a bitch for wanting the revision done in a reasonable time span or at least an explanation for why its taking so long to complete.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure I remember reading somewhere that staff has said that if you have paid real money for a commission that hasn't been completed, it's akin to theft and then they are willing to get involved in the matter.
Sorry it turned out so sucky for you, I hope you can get it fixed with minimal hassle.
This is no different than paying for car repairs. You are giving them payments for services rendered and as such if it needs more work or something comes up the LEAST they can do is talk to you about any issues

- Do you know where that was stated?
- I know, its just that I'd hate for them to have had a good reason for not being here, say a medical emergency you know?
But if you've seen them do other rare it isn't as if they aren't drawing. I'd def say get staff involved at this point.
Umm, I think it was when they revamped the CW system (a year ago, 2?) it was one of the questions for the person taking over the CW waiting to be admitted queue (I think it was maybe but I can't recall.) I'm sorry it's not much help, it's a giant thread to sort through.
- Thank you all for your help! I have filed a ticket so we'll see where this goes. I don't like to get people into trouble but I need to know what the status is on my cw.
That's real money you spent. If you'd gone into a shop and given somebody money and they gave you a faulty product instead of what you paid for, you are within your rights to get the police (re: staff) involved. I hope it all works out for you doll!
Let's see you say june-ish was the last communication? So roughly 2.5-3 months of NOTHING? I'd not be so content to wait this long. If a car shop had my car that long with ZERO work being done you'd better believe I'd be taking it back from them. Why pay for nothing when it can just sit in your own driveway doing the same thing? Yet in this timeframe you've seen other artwork not only get made but accepted? No communication at this point is not right or fair for you.
