I'm wanting to get a tattoo in Latin but I'm not sure how to go about ensuring that the translation from English to Latin is correct. I figured someone on subeta might know where to point me in the right direction - or if I'm lucky someone who knows their Latin ;U;
Where are trust worthy sources or places to visit (online or irl) to check my Latin?
I've posted the Latin and English phrases in the spoiler box below for anyone who might be interested :3

luceat lux vestra, sic itur ad astra
let your light shine, thus you shall go to the stars
My latin isn't the best anymore, but the first part seems ok. I found the "sic itur ad astra" as an idiom (?) for "one obtains immortality" - so maybe "you shall gain/obtain immortality"
Just a little remark: I had to do this in German and translated it to English afterwards :'D
ahhh thank you for your input - I think the more responses and opinions I get the better, and I really appreciate that take on the phrase. If your reading is correct, it changes the meaning I'm hoping for!
ps. Latin to German to English … is this inception? ;3
ah well, I only have a Stowasser (Latin -> German dictionary) and two nice websites, in German respectively. I found the phrase via PONS-translation and checked the grammar stuff with frag-caesar.de
For the "go to the stars"/"gain immortality"-part, it is probably the understanding, since in ancient times they believed stars are somewhat eternal. Just look up the stories behind the zodiac signs e.g.
