Not sure if I posted on the right forum though, sorry.
So, anyone else own horses irl? We own 12 horses at the moment and we breed gypsy vanners c: I ride western though no competitions or anything. Western isn't that big here where I live. In Europe it's all dressage and jumping so yeah /:
Anyone else?
I am not a horse owner (unless my Legeicas here do count, lol) but reading that you are breeding gypsy vanners made me smile as they're my favorites besides Friesians and I just had to say that.
Do you have any photos of your horses? totally not curious X'D
I'm currently working (and experiencing a looot of html annoyances due to my rusty skills) website for my mother for our horses. Are we allowed to post pictures here? And of course they can count! Funny enough I don't have any legeicas here!
If Legeicas count as well I own six horses. ;'D
And yes we are allowed to post pictures here. I think if they are too big they get resized and if you don't want to risk that you can just post the links here.
Maaaajor poof, rl happened
we have a website for our horses, I finally got around finishing it hehe ykw-gypsyhorses.com (:
I have a Standardbred and a Trakehner/Thoroughbred cross. Gypsy's are so cool!
Working on filled wardrobe achievement. Almost at 12k!
Aww keltic, show some pictures!
they are expensive yeah, it depends on where you live a lot too I think. Can you not lease a horse for now? :)
I'm insanely jealous. Gypsy Vanners are gorgeous horses. I don't own any horses...I will before I die though. I'm hoping to own at least one Friesian in my life.
I love riding Western (rode two Friesians, smooth gaits, amazing temperaments along with countless other horses). Worked at a stable with like 13 horses (Quarter Horses, Haflingers, Arabian, Quarabs, Tennessee Walker, Belgians, Rocky Mountain Pony, etc, and a miniature donkey). I love horses, and it's rubbed off on my son as well. He loves riding ponies. =D
Gorgeous horses, by the way!!! =D
Aww thanks! I haven never seen half those horses before irl, they're not very known around here cause everyone usually rides english :( shame cause i bet tws look gorgeous. My friend has a twh but she rides him english style and I have yet to visit him, she just lives too far away :(
You're welcome. The Tennessee Walker I worked with was jet black, and he was the only horse who had shoes on. He was a retired police horse. I actually met his former owner this past summer.
I can't stand riding English. I rode it once, the horse went into a trot, and the saddle slipped. That was the first and last time, lol. I'll stick to Western. =)
I looked at your website. Your horses are absolutely gorgeous!
I have two horses, an Appaloosa (Kando) and an almost-pony mix (Sassy). Both are in their early 20s and they're just "pasture pets" hahah. One of my younger sisters rides Kando sometimes, but I haven't been able to ride in a long time due to illness. I love just going to see them and feed everyday though. I started riding when I was around six and can't imagine life without some form of horsey interaction.

Ew yeah Ikr those saddles are so tiny when you're used to bigger! I went on vacation at a friend's and we went into the woods on her horses and she rode english style and dear lord I felt as if I would fall off at any second for sitting so cramped on that tiny saddle, hehe. In the end I got the hang of it again but that sure was an experience I won't forget any time soon :') A police horse? That's amazing! They barely keep police horses here anymore I think... They usually use dutch warmbloods here I /think/ but I've barely ever seen any police horses either. I live a sheltered life aha
Thank you! I appreciate the compliment c: That's great that you have horses healthy at such an age. How long have you had them? Stinks to hear about the illness :( Will you be able to in the future though? I don't have a lot of free time anymore due to school so I only go and feed them once a day after school and my mother does the rest. I only get to pet them and that's it or it'll be too dark outside anyway. Kinda stinks but they enjoy themselves in the pasture I bet.
I have had Sassy for twelve years, and Kando for six years. I think that's right anyway! Old happy horses are a gift. (: We used to have a Tennessee Walking Horse, Princess. She was 21 when we got her because no one else wanted her, she was severely underweight. We took care of her and she lived four more years until she got down and could not get back up and we had to euthanize, although until that unfortunate day she was still in pretty good health, and happy. She was a total sweetheart and everyone who met her, even people who were scared around horses, came to love her. It is disappointing not to be able to do much with the horses. I'm sorry school is stealing your time! I actually go to a new doctor in a few days and really hope that I will have the energy and strength to ride a little by next summer.

Plus you gotta keep your legs bent and hold the reins all proper-like. Nope, I like being relaxed when I ride, lol. I haven't seen any police horses around here (I live in the "coal region" of Pennsylvania), but I do know they're still used in bigger cities.
That's so admirable that you offered Princess a nice last home. Not many would have taken the time to help an older horse. They'd just dump it on someone else or have it slaughtered. So much for 21 years of service!
lolol ik, I just let my horse decide on the pace and send her into the right direction with my legs and we just casually wonder about the woods usually. So chill and relaxed. No need for straight reins and stressed out riding tactics for me (lazy + why should I?)
