Hello everyone!
Since the release of the SubQ invitations, I've been using the trade center a lot more and have run into an issue that, while it does not affect the usability of the TC, seems to make people angry!
If I have more than 1 offer on a trade, I accept the best one. Makes sense, right? HOWEVER, everyone else who offered on the lot gets a "Grouse has rejected your offer on Lot#..." notice. This makes it seem like I am deliberately saying that their offer isn't any good, and has resulted in some hurt feelings.
Suggestion: Change the trade "rejection" message to something like "So-and-so accepted another offer on Lot#..." and only send out the "rejection" notice if the offer is actually rejected!
Hopefully this will be an easy fix. What do you guys think?
I was personally never offended by the fact that my offer was "rejected".
If people are, too bad for them? I don't really see why it has to be changed.
to make that possible it would have to have some code for when the owner clicks Accept and all the other offers get the new message and the regular rejected message for when the owner clicks reject...
i don't know if it's hard to add this code... but it seems a lot of work that is not really necesary....
people that use the trade center need to understand that it's not a personal thing that you reject their offer... like you said, is just wasn't good enough... too bad =/
if you feel that bad if people get mad at you for rejecting them, just drop them a comment: "sorry, i accepted another offer"... it's extra work for you... but it's better than the extra work for the staff that you are suggesting when it's not really necesary to that many users.
There's always going to be people who take offense.
Honestly, I've never been offended by the fact that I was rejected in a trade.
I understand that trade rejection notices are a non-issue for many users (especially those who have been around a while), but what about newer users just getting into the trade system? Sure, people can 'figure it out' and sort out their hurt feelings later, but I feel like it would be a very small change to make Subeta a friendlier place.
Thanks for everyone's input so far!
I actually really like this idea.. mainly because if my offer is rejected, then I know it wasn't up to par, and I have the option of fixing it. But if I got a message saying another offer was accepted, then I don't waste my time searching for that trade again, wondering what happened to it.
I usually just assume the person got a better offer, and I don't take it personally. I think it's understood that we're all just looking for the best trade we can get.
If it wouldn't be too difficult to code, I'd actually really like this? I generally go and tell people that I accepted another offer, because I personally always wonder when I get the rejected event... so yeah. This would be nice.
