Good morning!
I am not trying to stir trouble - legitimately worried here and haven't been able to find anything on this. I've been a Subeta user for several years now and have had the same forum signature for almost the entirety of my time on Subeta. I am not usually online during the weekends and so returned today (Monday June 17, 2013) to find an "other" event stating that I'd received a verbal warning because my signature in the forums exceeded limits. Now... I did not speak to anyone and when I went to remove the signature there was text there stating it had been removed by admin.
Is this "verbal warning" something that is going to impact my using the site? Considering how long I'd had the signature could this warning be removed from my record as I was unaware of any change in the limits?
Thank you!
If this is inappropriate or the wrong place please remove/let me know.
Hello. Hopefully someone who actually knows the details comes along soon, but in the meanwhile I can assure(?) you one verbal warning is nothing to be worried about. It has no impact of you using the site and after a certain amount of time (a year? two years?) you can fill a ticket to have it cleared from your record. Several of them, however, sum up to one official warning and those can get you frozen.
To my knowledge there wasn't any change in signature/forum text limits for... quite some time so it's a possibility yours was simply overlooked.
Thank you!
Glad to know it's nothing to be worried about. Don't have any intention of accruing enough warnings to get me an official one!
sorry, but is wrong here about it being of no consequence. A Verbal Warning counts for half of a Warning against your account, so it is not in your interest to accumulate them freely.
Yes, it is true that you can petition for a Verbal Warning to be removed from your account one year later. But just because you can make this request does not mean that it will be granted.
I think that while it is OK to ask here about the rules, since you get only the one account here on Subeta, it is worth your while to file a Ticket to find out what exactly the Verbal Warning was about. This serves a double purpose, because it marks in your Ticket file for your own records when "one year' is, and you may also find out just what was wrong about the siggy so you don't accidentally do it again.
is making it out to be a little more worrisome than it is. Yes a verbal counts against you, but the rules have been changed so that you can no longer be frozen for forumtext violations. If you keep doing it, you'll have your forumTEXT taken away, or banned from the forum area.
Like said, it's likely yours just got overlooked. It's a good idea to check the size on your own, rather than rely on the site's counter.
Thanks everyone :-)
I will by no means take the warning lightly but am glad it will not impact me being on Subeta (except for the odd chance I'll accumulate enough to make an official warning). Will be more careful with any forum text or signatures in the future, for sure.
nah it's nothing.
If you feel it's unfair, you can appeal it now. I appealed all my official warnings Or it'll be automaticly removed from your record after a year or two
People don't get frozen for oversized forumtext though. Either siggy ban or forum ban if you do get to 3 official warnings
[edit] Oops klassikal totes beat me to it
(Because text affects the width of your signature, we suggest testing with all text removed to be sure your width is correct.)
