The Dripping Candle (from Spooky Chance Surprise) is so pretty, but the solid black feels like such a waste of potential. If it was slightly transparent, you could do some really neat things with layering. I know there's the Book of Ancient Black Magic, but it's not quite the same. :(

And if anyone's curious, these are the backgrounds I used in the example:

I completely agree here. I actually thought we weren't allowed to use solid black in wears/items... but I guess since these aren't cws that doesn't apply. =o
I thought it was like this when I first saw it. I... Am sad it's not.
Im actually ok with it not being transparent xD I can layer some things over it that look really cool. But I did wonder about the no solid black. Maybe if it had more shade itd fit more.
I thought it was layerable when I first saw it too, now I'm very disappointed in finding out it isn't. Such potential, wasted.

Simplicity isn't always a bad thing. The background has floorboards under the HA so that would make it very hard to layer properly if it were transparent. I love the background as is, personally.
Same here; I like the background in plain black. I mean, who does even want to have a wooden floor in a forest or at a seashore? XD
Yeah I agree with on this one because of the floor tiles... as it is, we have an extremely limited assortment of things to make it look like our HA is inside a house / room / whatever and none is even a full bg (official items I mean!). :x
BUT, this being said, I would have loved to see BOTH items separated - and then I don't think there would have been an issue! Tbh I don't know why the site doesn't have simple single-colored backgrounds and foregrounds. (As in, a plain black / blue / red foreground, maybe in different opacities, and a plain black / blue / red background.) I'd love to see more layerable skies and grounds, and also would love it if people who want to make "landscapes" on their HAs wouldn't struggle as much to cover the HA portion... Idk what's the staff opinion about "humanless" HAs but I personally love the possibilities it brings :c
Ahh I don't remember how things were before, but now we are! ^-^ I mean, it still depends a lot on what you're doing with the black, on regular wearables it could still be an issue because a "too dark" denial could happen if they can't distinguish the shading layers very well, but I -think- this is something that would be approved as a cw too c: (In that sense, we already have the !)
I think it's just fine the way it is. You're in a dark room and the only light is the candles. You cannot see past where the light reaches, therefore, pitch black.
I got one from a free spin. I like it but think the Book Of Ancient Black Magic is a bit more versatile. I suppose it's really down to what people want to do with their HAs, though.
I would love it to be transparent as well, though I do have a few items that might work to layer over it (and some more similar items to and , preferably a few on site ones, would be great).
That's kind of a common thing in tvs and movies though, isn't it? Like the walls of a room disappear and suddenly you're in the middle of a forest or something, but your furniture is still there. It totally works. :P
