Hey guys, So I have a 03 Dodge Neon that's been giving me problems since the day I bought her. Everything's pretty much been replaced. Until last Friday. The tranny is going. I'm going to replace it because she's my only car but I would like to get another car in a year or so but have no knowledge as to what to buy.

Anyone know of a good little car that's reliable?

Definitely not another Neon. I have one that's been giving me hell lately too. And it's um....05 I think.

Maybe look at Fords? I know most of my family drives Ford vehicles and my dad has an Explorer that's nearing twenty years old now, and still runs relatively smoothly.

Looking to buy this!

-hugs- Yes! I'm not alone! Not yes, as in ''I'm happy your having troubles too'' though, just that I'm happy it's not just because everything turns to shit when I touch it kinda thing!

Never thought about Fords. My family's never had one so I could look into them. Thank you for your feedback and I hope your Neon works out for you!

I have little experience with cars as I can't drive, but my mom has had good experiences with Hondas. I would also advise against a Volkawagen. I have been told by a couple mechanics that while VWs get good mileage, it's not really worth it since repairing them is sometimes difficult, I believe it has something to do with parts being difficult to obtain. I know one who won't even consider looking at a VW.

We have a 2002 Toyota Echo, and that thing is unstoppable.

It's got nearly 250,000k on it and it's been heavily abused us kids learning how to drive with it and by being run up and down the highways to different universities and colleges multiple times a year. It just keeps on going. It's only been within the last year that the tranny has started giving little complaints, but my father is convinced it's because one of my siblings did stupid things like throw it into park while the car was still moving and stomped on the accelerator to shift it into drive faster when the car was cold and had a moment's pause before it would go from reverse to drive (cold being Canadian winter cold).

I also have friends with 2003 Echoes that love their cars too, although they're both standards. I've heard rumbles that the automatics weren't as good from 2003 onwards.

I own a '97 Toyota Camry and it still works wonderfully. I get fantastic gas mileage for it's age - I can drive 400 miles before I have to go fill it up. :)
