What are some of life's puzzles? What don't you get about the world?

You know what I don't get? I don't get how clamshells reproduce. I recently learned that hermit crabs like to switch shells... but I thought that clamshells were attached to their shells or something. (I didn't know hermit crabs could switch shells either until recently.) Does their sperm just float around everywhere? How do they poop? ._.?? I don't understand because don't they not really even move location-wise...?

Anyways. Share your questions, and feel free to answer any too. ;)

I have no idea how clams do it. I really don't. Maybe they just cosmically magically duplicate. XD

My question, while we're on the topic of shelled creatures, is: what the HELL was evolution thinking when it spawned the geoduck?

xD Ehem:

One day, a cave woman of the days of yore was sitting around in a cave, waiting for her mate to return home. She stomped her feet maniacally, wondering if some other cave woman had stolen her cave man. Hours later, the cave man returned. "Wugga wug bub ugg?!" she screamed, which probably meant something along the lines of "Where have you been?!"

"Ugga ugg wubba ugg ugg brug ugg ugga uggum," he replied, which meant, "Nowhere."

That was when the cave wife noticed a pink flower stuck in his hair. "Ugga ugg?!" she yelled at an even louder volume, demanding how he had gotten a pink flower stuck in his hair when the only flowers around were yellow.

"Blug ugg blub," said the cave man, meaning, "Uh..."

The cave woman, realizing what had happened, screamed even louder and began chasing her cave husband around the cave, picking up a sharp rock to attack him with. "UGGA UGG WUGG," she screamed.

-intervention- Um. That was the story I started but now I realize I probably can't really tell the rest of it due to the rules... xD;

OH BOY, ARE YOU IN LUCK. I recently had a lecture on bivalve molluscs lololol. They can move about by using their fleshy 'foot' inside their shell to pull themselves along a surface... or they can propell themselves by open and closing their shell really fast (which looks pretty cool).

They reproduce externally, so the males release loads of sperm, and the females eggs, into the surrounding water. Yeah, they do just float around everywhere, but plenty of them meet seeing as there's so many of them. Oh, and they use this tube thing called a Nephridium (sp?) to get rid of waste.

Sometimes I just don't get particle physics. I mean, quarks are simple enough, but what are they made of? Well, strings, according to string theory... but... it's not something I can easily 'visualise', y'know? I'd probably need a more specialised physics education to understand it all.
