I apologize if this is in the wrong forum! Maybe it should go under suggestions… Or problems… Gah, anyway -

I just received an official warning for my forum image and signature combined being too large. And no, this isn't a board about me begging to have it removed (though it'd be nice...!), this is about the fact that the signature page still says that the combined size of your signature and forumText not exceed a certain amount. While for some people this might be self-explanatory and refer to the image, I totally spaced and thought it was just something they had forgotten to take out when forumText was removed.

Can someone on staff perhaps change that page to read "signature and forum image" instead, so more (dumb) people like me don't get warnings? D; I also tend to size commissions at 325px in height since I thought the image and the signature were independent of one another… I don't wanna get more people warned, lol! I can't possibly be the only artist who is confused and did this. There's also actually nothing on the forum image page that says that it's both combined - which added to my confusion and made me assume it was just leftover and that signatures had to fit in a certain parameter independent of forum images!

Also - perhaps a counter that can tell us the size of both combined? I know you can just add it up manually based off of the signature information plus the size of whatever image you have, but it'd be nice to have if it's possible.

I'm pretty sure this is an oversight on staff's part from when they change the Forum Image options page.

It used to be forumText, which had the same default warning that the current forum signature page has.

Official warning? Am I mixing things up here or didn't they change this rule sometime ago so that staff now only should delete your sig / forum set stuff instead of giving you a warning of any sort?

I totally agree! I received a verbal because I didn't realize my forum text and signature was 22 pixels over the height limit.

Maybe the pages should have both the height and width of forum text and signature? It's easy to forget when it is separate :C

Let's not forget that the thing is now supposed to automatically resize for you if you click on any of the options for the forum image and it doesn't.

Also, forumtext no longer exists.

This is a serious oversight on staff's part and really needs looked into before something else gets busted revamped.

From what I remember, you still get warnings, but they will no longer coint in freezing your account, only suspending or removing forum privledges.

I just want to take a moment to point out that I personally feel this is the most ridiculous, stressful, and utterly unwelcoming rule that subeta has to date (I feel it's worse than the chatspeak or NO ALL CAPS rules were) and that I would really appreciate if staff had a pow-wow about this.

Here we are in the year 2014, and... UAs are still wasting their time with..... this? This? Warning people and clearing forumsets? Really?

Not only that but this is singlehandedly the most terrifying part about the forums. HEY COME CHAT IN THE FORUMS, PUT UP A NICE IMAGE so it can accidentally be 3px over the limit and we can WARN WARN BAN YOU FOR IT MWAahaha.... Okay Satan.

How about we just program the image resizer to work? Or idk, set it up to acknowledge image size and auto tell people it's too big please resize it and then get rid of this rule anf warnings because this is lame and I've legitimately been terrified to ever really touch/change my forum stuff because it might be too big and I'll be warned and frozen (and that'd just make too many name people happy sry).

That's good at least, that legit has kept me from ever wanting to change my forum image.

I'd be nice to have it spelled out though, to know worse case is x since my assumption was obviously still if you get 3 warnings for something this silly then you'll be frozen. I'd still prefer the resizer/error if it's too large, but not being given a legit warning is, well. Tolerable XD; I still will probably never change mine,as it stands, because I'd rather look at Max's face than get a warning for miscounting. Byt it's nice to know miscounting pixels won't get you frozen.

I had this same issue a few weeks ago and made a ticket and talked to a mod and then that mods supervisor. They said that I was correct, they were going to redo the page since it is not accurate anymore. I don't know if they didn't tell someone or what. I would file a ticket and asked to have it removed.
