So I'm hosting and planning the baby shower for my good friend Tash. She is having my god-child so I want to make it uber awesome.
The theme I have chosen is Rubber Duckies. Now, they won't know the gender until the baby shower, but I will. I'm going to the ultra sound and getting the nurse to write the gender down and give it to me. I'm doing this to surprise them, I'm having a cake made and there will be blue or pink frosting in the middle of the cake depending on the gender. So when they cut the cake, they will know if their baby is a girl or a boy.
I already have one idea. I'm going to get a tub of water and have rubber duckies floating in it. And people who bring diapers will get to choose a duck which will be numbered. That number corresponds to a prize c:
Any ideas?
Are they okay with you telling them the gender like that? That's a cute idea though, with the icing. Do they have names picked out? I haven't been to many baby showers, nothing that really stood out anyways. Just this one game that was really disgusting...there were diapers on the table, each one with a spoonful of baby food in it, and by smell the guests had to guess what it was and write their answers on a numbered sheet corresponding the the numbers on the diapers. The one with the most correct answers won some little prize. Kind of gross, but cute I guess.
That's what they want done, surprising them with the gender. They only have a boy name picked out. Connor.
That's...weird haha. I don't think I'd be doing that game.
You could hide a tiny item (duck toy?) in one of the slices of cake, and the person who finds the toy could win a prize. I've heard of the diaper game using melted chocolate bars and the guests have to guess what number diaper holds what brand of candy bar. Pretty gross, but it seemed to go over well on the Girls Next Door. Are you planning a full menu or just desserts? I'd love to hear about your party.

I think Tash wants cupcakes, so I'll be filling cupcakes with the pink/blue icing, a little duck inside would be awesome!
Well, I'm ordering finger food trays from the Deli I work at. Just little snacks more than meals.
The cupcakes sound really cute! You could make punch and float a few rubber duckies on top. Finger foods also sound like a better idea than a full meal.

Ooo. I'll make the punch I make out of sprite and watermelon, which I serve in the watermelon shell. c:
I know a few games for baby showers.
Buy a bunch of tiny ducklings, put them in ice trays and freeze them. For the guest who wants to play this game have them donate like fifty cents for formula fund or just have it for free people. The first one who melts the ice off their duckling wins a prize.
Since no one will know the gender in the game besides you, maybe have two blue circles. Have every guess the gender by putting the ducklings in either pond as a guessing game. When the cake is cut pick a duckling from the winning pond.
There's the diaper changing games as well.
I'll ask my friends for more games, if you'd like, a couple have already had their baby showers.
