I was trying to buy something in main shops that I've been eyeing and didn't want to pay the crazy, inflated user shop price for and in my excitement accidentally hit my caps lock, yikes! It took me 3 tries to realize that it wouldn't accept the word in caps, I felt dumb but got my item (whew!)
Anyway, when purchasing it doesn't say "captchas are case sensitive". I don't know the coding involved, but maybe it could be changed so as long as you're typing the correct word it takes? or at least a line about case sensitivity, for those that don't realize. It'd save a heart attack when buying that item you absolutely need lol

My understanding is that captchas are, by nature, case sensitive. I don't think they CAN be coded to accept different capitalizations.
I would think it couldn't hurt to add that they're case sensitive, in case people are new to the Internet and don't run into them all the time on other sites, though. I'm just grateful we don't get special characters or other languages like some I've run into before.
I've seen some on (yahoo for instance) sites that are used to validate when you change a PW. They use numbers, caps and lower case but work entered as lowercase. I've also run into some that have a case sensitive warning. Maybe there are different templates depending on which company's program you use. I don't know a lot of coding but I do know you can make your own templates for that type of program.
I'm lucky enough to have never run into the special character or foreign language ones. But yes, it can be frustrating if you're not sure.
Also, for those that don't know, if you hit space accidentally it counts it as a character in these captchas. I've missed out on a few good buys due to my typing clumsiness :p

There was a time when this was changed so that the captchas weren't case sensitive. It only lasted a couple of months before it quit working when another change was made. I would point you to the thread where this was discussed, but it's at least a couple of years old now and I have no idea how the forum search is suppose to work now.
