I have a 27" Mac set at 2560 x 1440. I am in no way a Mac/computer/technology snob, I just happen to be a digital photographer so I need the giant screen. So please don't take this the wrong way!
Most people's profiles & especially pet profiles look pretty messed up to me. Backgrounds are usually too small and repeat themselves in unfortunate ways, and a lot of text overlaps & is totally unreadable.
I'm thinking that works both ways, too; if I code my pet's profiles in my current resolution, they'll probably be way too big for most folks.
So, what is the typical screen resolution that the general population (of Subeta, anyway) uses? I will temporarily switch to that resolution when I start coding my pet profiles.
Also, do people care that their profiles dont work on larger screens? I've almost mentioned it to a few people looking for spotlight troubleshooting, but then I figured it was probably irrelevant.
Oh well. That's unusually huge. For spotlight kind of general guideline is 1024x768 screen size from what I know, profiles wider than 1024 can be easily rejected unless, it's dunno, pretty clear they are wide on purpose. From my experience most people seem to have either that resolution or one of the popular notebook ones... mine is 1366x768.
As for the last part; if they are not seriously aiming for Pet Spotlight... yup. It's very likely they don't care XD Plenty of people simply don't /realize/ different screen sizes can be an issue, too.
I am jealous of your screen resolution! lol
http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_display.asp This site shows the averages.. seems about 13% use 1024x768 and 85% use higher than that.. with the majority using 1366x768. I've also run into the prob of WS vs FS, as my WS designs don't always fit right for the FS monitors.
I know what you mean, I have the same issue with my 1440p monitor as well.. a whole other can of worms is differences between browsers.. XD.
As a standard, I'd aim towards either 720 or 1080p.
You could use an extension like web developer to resize the browser to those resolutions while coding. you can even edit the css live with it, so you don;t have to apply and refresh constantly!. :P.
