lol I felt I really should ask this question and see what other people thought. Here is what happened to me:

The other day I went out to eat (mind you, I'm 16 and a girl... and completely oblivious to stuff like this) and there was one of those guys who makes balloon animals. Fun, usually, if you are like five, or if there is a special occasion (yes, I will take a balloon hat!). Anyways, the guy comes over to our table and just stands there. He is probably in his 40's and not attractive for a 40 yr old man, in my opinion. Anyways, he just stands there, not saying anything, so I politely try to say "no thank you" for a balloon (I WANTED MY FOOD! not a balloon. haha!). Anyways, this caused him to start making fun of me and random stuff about me being short with him or something (he was just joking, but like... idk... lol). So anyways, at the VERY end of that conversation, after I threatened to eat any balloon he gave me and choke and die and blame him (thats a threat, right?), he proceeded to tell me that i just MUST meet his son, and I just MUST go on a date with said son! @-@ I know this kids height and age and name and hair color and eye color and where he works now... never seen a picture... Is that kinda strange? :P

Ok done with super long story.

I guess you just impressed him, and he thought you'd be a good match for his kid. It doesn't strike me as too strange. I don't think I'd follow through with ever tracking him down, but I'd be flattered and a little amused.

lol I would agree, but that was just the father. that 40 yr old man wanted me to date his 16yr old son. Significantly less creepy, for sure

They guy is probably just socially awkward, I wouldn't think much of it really. Take it as a compliment if nothing else.

that kinda stuff happens sometimes. usually they're not the best looking guys, lol. my brother is the kinda guy that other people would try and find him a pretty girlfriend, and set up a date for. because if you were to see him yourself, he could be the strangest, creepiest, person that you wouldn't want to go on a date with. but sometimes, it could be perfect.. but it's rare.

It's definitely odd, but, lol... It reminds me of my current boyfriend.

His mother was super pushy with every female 19 - 22 in her personal circle (family friends, friend's kids etc) and was constantly "selling him"/encouraging girls to date him. It actually worked once -- she was a regular customer at a particular clothing store and always chatted with the same female sales assistant, who was the daughter of an old friend or something. She took up the offer and they met (against his will) and became interested in him. After that, she was asking his mother to nag him into going out with her again or at least make him visit her at the store. She eventually gave up on him.

I always thought it was a weird situation.

Oh my goodness I feel kinda sorry for that girl! I think parents should just stay out of their children's dating lives. lol! It would make everything so much simpler and less creepy.

Erm, that sounds completely creepy to me xD. Rather random hahaha.
