Right now there's not exactly a perfect fit place for people to talk about Current Events, although I imagine current events tend to bleed in to the Debate forum, at least indirectly. Since I imagine the current events people want to talk about are the more controversial ones, perhaps a Current Events subforum within Debate would be a good way of going about it. That way people don't have to weigh in, for example, on racism in society in general, but could just discuss the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson specifically.

This seems unnecessary. People post recent happenings in Current Events just to have informal discussion about that particular event. If anyone wants to have a more in-depth debate about the topic, they can make a post in the appropriate Debate section to do just that.

If you want to debate a current issue rather than a general issue it's perfectly fine to make a topic.

If someone wants to just discuss an issue the Current Event forum is perfect for that.

I guess I don't see a reason to move the forum to Debate.
