Hi! I am strongly considering getting a cartilage piercing (soon!) and I am EXTREMELY excited! I was wondering if you guys had any advice or sites where I can buy some earrings for my cartilage? :D I looooove darker things. Skulls (whut?), roses, something simple... I don't care :P Thanks!

You linked to Etsy and I'd say thats a pretty great place to look! But for your cartilage you shouldn't change the initial jewellery until it heals, which is months after you get it. So you've got plenty of time to find something :-)

All I can say is don't get it done at Claire's. Go to a professional piercer, that's what you're supposed to do. I got a cartilage piercing twice from Claire's and my body rejected both. I still have a scar from the last time.

I was referred to Pierced Fish by some girls at a makeup forum I'm a member of but I haven't actually bought any of their jewelry yet because I'm still waiting for my piercings to heal up properly.

I agree with - definitely get your piercing done with a professional, where everything is sanitary and is done with a needle instead of a piercing gun. And like said, it'll take months for the piercing to heal up properly. I have a double cartilage piercing in my right ear and one is FINALLY fully healed after 8 months, while the other still bleeds and crusts over pretty often because I keep sleeping on/bumping it.

Go for it! :) I have a good number of piercings, it's kind of addictive. How many do you have now? I know of a site that has plenty of variety, if I find it I'll let you know!

[edit] I've personally not ordered anything from here but almost all of my pierced up friends have. They have lots of different materials and styles. Bodycandy

What are those types of jewelry called?

I would like something like that for my ear piercings and don't know what term to search for!

things on etsy tend to be very overpriced considering the fact that everything's handmade. bodycandy.com is pretty awesome. look around there.

as far as advice goes, get a ring for it made out of something that isn't skin irritant and just keep it clean if/when you do get it done. don't over clean it though because you can easily dry it out. once or twice a day should be good. i've seen a lot of cartilage piercings go horribly wrong and trust me, you don't want that.

I don't really have any recommended piercing sites besides Body Candy, but the most important thing I have to tell you is to get it done professionally! No excuses! I know it can be expensive, but getting it done at Claire's or Walmart or whatever is probably the best way to give yourself an infection and some nasty scarring. :c

Also, like others have said, you need to wait quite a while before it's safe to change your jewelry. Cartilage takes a long time to heal.

A. Get it done professionally. Claire's and Icing both do it, and they're a large company, so everything has to be perfect as far as sanitation goes B. Ask for the manager if you do go there. You really don't want someone who's only done earlobes to be stabbing a needle through your cartilage, and they usually have more experience. C. When they say don't take it out for eight weeks, they mean DON'T TAKE IT OUT FOR AT LEAST EIGHT WEEKS. Made that mistake. >.<

Cartilage piercings are veryy fussy. I had mine redone two times before I gave up and now i have a pointy piece on the back of my ear, but my conch piercing healed perfectly fine and wanted to stay there (in the thickest part of the ear woot). So it kind of depends on what your body wants. Hopefully it will not reject!~

Go to an actual piercer, not one of those booths in the mall. I made that mistake...years later, my cartilage still bugs me. It got so swollen when it was done that the back didn't fit on the post any more.
