So, hey there. I've wanted to get into roleplaying for a very long time, but I've always been too shy to do so. I've done my best to familiarize myself with roleplay etiquette and I'm finally ready to give it a shot. Meet my first RP character, Joan Morkiss. Any comments or critique you have would be very much appreciated. :)

.:: Name ::. Joan Leslie Morkiss
.:: Gender ::. Female
.:: Age ::. 18
.:: Sexual Orientation ::. Bi-curious
.:: Appearance ::. Joan is a skinny Caucasian girl of average height with dirty blonde hair and brown eyes. In the winter, she prefers warm, comfortable clothing; comfy sweaters in muted tones, old worn jeans, and sweatpants. In the summer, she likes to wear bright colours, cheap jewellery that matches her outfits, and shorts. She doesn't wear makeup, except for special occasions. On bad days, she may often appear with her clothing dishevelled and her hair unkept due to her laziness.
.:: Personality ::. A laid-back girl with an upbeat outlook. On six out of seven days, she wakes up happy, and her energy and enthusiasm can pass on her good mood to others. She has a naturally nurturing and caring personality, leaping at the chance to help wherever she can, especially when it comes to children, the elderly, the sick or the disabled. She considers it her mission in life to help others and further good causes, and becomes disheartened and distessed when she is unable to do so. She is down-to-earth and very honest to the point of being blunt, and occasionally rude. Her sunny and overly optimistic view of the world, people, and situations stems from a certain degree of naivety due to her young age and relative inexperience with the world.
.:: History ::. After living in a lower-middle-class rural setting throughout most of her childhood, Joan ran away from her strict, authoritarian, overly controlling parents shortly after turning 18.

She sounds interesting, although it's sometimes helpful to consider what sort of games you'd want to play her in. It's refreshing that she isn't the typical antisocial, snarky little poster child for dramallama abuse.

I like this character a lot, she seems really interesting and like said, it's nice to see a character that has more to her than angst.

If anything, I would just suggest fleshing her out a bit more. You could think of making her appearance a but more detailed (body type, hair length, facial structure). Her personality is well thought out and I can't think of anything you might want to add there. Her history seems a bit basic though, I would suggest that you add more to it based on the exact roleplay you plan to put her in. Say what happened after she ran away. Is Joan currently homeless and staying with friends? Does she attend a school? Does she have a job? She's the same age as she was when she ran away but has it only been a few weeks or almost a full year since she left?

I hope that this might help you!

Edit: woops, this thread is a lot older than I thought it was. Sorry!
