I live in a tiny town. The speed limit is luckily 25... I was driving down the street, which was completely empty except for this old lady standing on the side of the road. She was just standing there, staring, but I slowed down a little. She still was just standing there... then she made eye contact with me when I was in a few feet of her, then ran DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF MY CAR! I almost hit her! I had been going slower because she was staring at me so luckily I wasn't even going 25 but my brakes didn't stop in time so I had to swerve and almost went into a pole. She just happily gave me the "thank you" hand signal and walked back to where she was. WHAT THE FUCK?! Oh my god I'm freaking out right now. I could have fucking hit her! What the hell?! I just needed to go to the Post Office, but after that I went the hell home! It's bad enough that one of my cats is sick! I don't need to add killing someone to my list of things that suck in my life right now!

Maybe she wanted to try and sue you for "not seeing her" crossing the road. I wouldn't be surprised. What a nasty old lady!

Whatever her intentions, that's REALLY scary. Did you call the police and alert them about her?

Something similar happened when I was driving to school and some boy and his girlfriend are chatting next to their car in the parking lot, and he sees me coming and playfully shoves her right in front of my car. I nearly hit her :/

We have an old people house for the insane, ex drug users, all around crazy people in town and they let them wander the town unsupervised. I'm thinking she might have been one of them, but she looked rich. She was wearing nice clothes at least and looked clean. I didn't think to call the cops. I don't know if there is anything they could do anyway, I'm sure she's somewhere else now.

that's what I'm thinking. If it's money she wants though, she should have picked someone who has some! Or at least looked like they had some, like someone driving a nice car or something XP.

It's what I'd suspect too if I were you.. Small town, more than likely there were zero witnesses..It'd be hard to prove anything. How scary though, I'm glad you're alright. Sorry to hear about your cat :( I hope they get better soon!

- I had the same thing happen to me last year! Except it was a 45 mph zone, night time, and it was a guy on a cell phone in his early twenties. I had to swerve to avoid him. In my rear view mirror, I saw him jump in front of a car coming the other direction immediately afterward. Absolutely no idea what that was about either. It's a very stressful situation, and I'm sorry it happened to you, too! At least neither of us hit them. =)

Geez!! Yes thankfully we didn't! There is this road that goes through several different cities and the speed limit is like 50 and it's always really crowded..a well a few weeks ago a guy decided to run into the traffic. He was hit by a few different people and died. In the article it said a lot of people are committing suicide on that road by running into traffic. That seems like one of the worst ways to kill yourself though!

Oh my gosh that sucks o_o That's one of the most selfish ways to commit suicide, it's just horrible.

It actually happened to my cousin once. He was driving and this old guy jumped in front of his car, got hit, and died. Because my cousin had been going to speed limit, he didn't get in trouble. The family of the guy also tried to reassure him by telling him that the guy had done that before, and that he'd been suicidal for awhile. The family didn't blame my cousin at all, but my cousin was very understandably scarred by that event.

Wow your cousin is really lucky that his family didn't blame him for what happened. Most people would try to get money out of it, even if they weren't entitled to any -_-. People sue over everything these days. That is going to scar him for life.. I wish people would think before they act. If you are going to kill yourself, leave other people out of it! Especially random people you don't even know o_O.

That's what I'm thinking. We have a crazy old people home in town and they are allowed to wander freely through town during the day. My cat is doing a little better. She's been throwing up a lot (she;s 13) and she's been getting skinnier the past few months... I have to wait until at least Monday to get her an appointment because they were closed this weekend. She wasn't eating all day but I forced one of her favorite treats on her which led to her realizing she was hungry and then she wanted wet food. I'm super worried about her >.<

Aww, poor kitty. I just lost my first cat this past summer, Zena. She was the first cat I ever had and the first I ever had to put to sleep. She had bone cancer. She was the best cat ever and I still miss her. I have two other cats though, and I love them too. My babies. I hope everything's alright with your kitty.

She's an old woman, I really doubt if she wanted to off herself she'd have pills to OD on or a more private way. You're blowing this out of proportion because of teh adrenaline in your system. She might have a mental disease, or saw something. I can almost guarantee an old lady didn't try to kill herself with your car. She could see you weren't even going that fast.

- I don't think it's been prevalent in my area, but it's still really terrifying (as a driver). Hopefully neither of the people we almost hit will continue their dangerous activities, whatever their reasons.

That lady must have been crazy or depressed, I think I would have freaked out long before she even ran out in front of the car.

So sorry to hear about your kitty :(. Cancer is the worst, my boss paid over $20k to cure her 2 year old of cancer, it kept coming back... she finally was completely cured and she became severely anemic and had to be put down.

She is my first cat too, I've had her since I was 8. I have two other cats as well, they are one and two. I took her in for a blood test today and I'm getting the results tomorrow... I'm so stressed out.

maybe she took your slowing down and the eye contact as a sign that you were going to stop to let her pass. old ladies are so full of medications, she would have probably chosen another method to commit suicide. (too much dark humour?)
