As you arrive back at the Squirrel, a cheery voice rings out with a hearty

"Mes amis! I am so glad to see you all preserved!"

Yes, it is Lucien standing before you, and standing seems about what Lucien is going to do for quite some time, as his previously luxurious tail section is now a swath of bandages.

"Izzy always said she was going to set his ass on fire if she caught him flirting one more time, but he beat her to it." Pugsy waves at you and winks as Lucien throws a stink-eye in her direction.

"Perhaps," he admits, "but I am now in possession of a new vessel." He gestures outside the inn's large bay window and you can see a shiny new Floating Frenchman hovering, with glowing fittings and even larger billowing steam sails. "She is tres jolie, non? And not cursed, so I am here among you for the celebrations."

"Yep," Pugsy nods. "Izzy was much too soft-hearted, not to mention soft-headed, to let you go down in flames after you sent Gaston with that love note. She did take a little pause before she put your butt out though."

"It's an incredible ship," says Larianne admiringly, happily snuggling both her parents in turn.

"I don't do crap," Pugsy announces proudly.

A rather rattled and bespectacled squirrel at a corner table looks up in admitation. "My agency could use you," he says to Pugsy.

"In your dreams, Nutcase," Pugsy snaps back. "My home is shining with light again, and Izzy needs me to navigate, so I'll just get a great meal and a super night here with these folks before I head back." She gives Raider's Folly a smirk. "Whoever said this inn was a dump has their heads on backwards."

"Anyway, she continues. "The Pyrates don't have to be in hiding anymore. Vertilline is promoting all of us to honor guards."

"It is all good news, mes amis," Lucien breaks in. "Jer Terabotti managed to skewer DeWinter before he could reach the tower, saving all of Wolfenhague the expense of a trial, and Vertilline decided the city should govern itself without a princess. Crystania is now a democracy and Jer is our first president."

"Vee also decided she was too young to even think about getting married," Pugsy adds smugly, "and thinks she might like to go on an adventure, if Hayao and Thorson can figure out a way to get up a stable portal for travel."

"Working on it!" Thorson says proudly, fondly scratching his devoted companion, OneToo, behind the ears.

"Perhaps, if you adjusted the variance of the pulsations?" Larianne suggests softly, stopping most of the conversation in the entire room.

"She's like that now," Erturde says, not without some pride. "Whoever stuck her in the arm with that crystal needle did her a favor."

"Some sort of angel, I think," Larianne muses. "Or spirit. Definitely not real. He was just too ridiculously good looking for that."

Lucien has been peering at all of you and greeting you, but his gaze stops at the taller chipmunk. "Could it be Branch?"

"It is!" the chipmunk answers. "I remember you, sir, from the trading expeditions. You have been to the Offtime Saloon. Please, I don't have anything to give you, but could that new ship take me back to my wife and baby?"

"My new ship? She can go anywhere, mon ami" Lucien laughs. "Come feast with us, and tomorrow, I will carry all those who wish to travel with me."

"I haven't filled my applications yet," comments the squirrel in the corner. "I need investigators."

"Nutsy," Pugsy says, clearing running short on patience. "You can only get willing applicants. Squirrely said you could come only because you're his cousin."

"In the meantime, you get to try while we celebrate the continued success of our amazing Protectors!" Winton shouts above the din. "All is right again. Eats and drinks all round, folks! One and all, tonight you are back home at the Wayward Squirrel!"

''Ill take you up on that offer Jer! I have some er..um ''business'' to attend to at Squirrely's Offtime Saloon. But first Nutsy... could you use a bard/lockpick on your investigation team? '' Atrueheart asks. ''If so please sign me up. I'm sure some of my team would come along.'' Atrueheart glanced around at her team and saw several heads nod. ''Now if y'all would excuse me I need to get on my party dress and dancing shoes and unpack some more of my instruments. It's party time!''

"It's good to be back" Ilaera said enthusiastic. "And so nice to hear everything turned out so great. Glad to hear Vertilline decided she was too young to get married too, maybe Phaeri and I can join her on her adventures, since we have had some of our own and may call ourselves experienced now as I can say so myself".

"Ah Nutsy, since you need investigators, would you want to take a ranger to your team?" Ilaera asks. "I can be of service until a new adventure calls me" Ilaera winks. She looks around for her friends, but they were all busy with other things it seemed. "I'm sure some of my friends will want to join in too, but they will let you know themselves".

Juana picks a nice solid oak rocker to plop down in, kicks her feet up on a stool, and breathes a heavy sigh.

"SO good to sit down and just breathe. Don't let me miss the trip, Lucien, I'll be headed back with ya for sure!" She makes a mental note to go easy on the ale tonight as to avoid missing the morning all together.
"Nutsy, I'd be happy to lend my skills to any predicament, investigation, or adventure you might come across. Sign me up!" With that, she sips on her drink and closes her eyes, enjoying the sounds of merriment all around.

Ever so quietly a dust covered gopher accompanied by an ever dustier teeny tiny bear cub emerge from the archives below the Wayward Squirrel to join her team. "OhEmGee you guys are amazing! You found Branch! Or he found you! Not that it matters, he's been found either way! After all this time Geranium and Chester's dreams are coming true!"

Glancing back at the door that leads to the archives she sighs almost inaudibly. "I really had a grand time, we both did, isn't that right Hope?" Her companion nods happily, pulling on Laurie's hand, dragging her toward the rest of their team. Quickly taking a seat she continued, "Ya know, Angels, I wasn't sure at first, all y'all are so crazy and there is SO much to read, so much to learn, so much to discover. Stepping in as a gopher when you don't know what the Wayward Squirrel even is seemed a lot like how it would be to jump off the high-dive before checking to make sure the pool was filled."

Shyly she nods to the other adventurers as Hope toddles toward Moriel, a pretty good sized dire wolf in hopes of getting herself a piggy back ride before they have to leave. Chewing on her bottom lip, a tail-tale sign she's gathering her courage as well as her thoughts Laurie grabs herself a tankard of ale and takes a hearty swig. Shaking off the twinge of sadness now that the adventure is over and raising the nearly empty mug high, she addresses the room "I don't like good-byes so I don't use them. Until next time y'all - Carpe diem!"

Atrueheart giggles at 's choice of song. ''Now that's one I haven't heard in a while!'' She moves over a bit to give some more room. ''Well gopher.. you did it. Your invaluable help served to get us all home in one piece. We couldn't have done it without you hon. But next time YOU are going with us on the adventure! Venom winced at the sight of poor Lucien’s tail. Having experienced the same loss of limb Ven could really sympathize. Inwardly only of course, any outward gesture would undoubtedly be seen as weakness. Keeping quiet was the only honorable thing to be done, the less attention paid to ones missing tail the better. Ven quickly put on a smile and reached for a tankard of ale with which to join the protectors in toasting Lucien’s health and their own good fortune.

Lorelei walks through the door with nyx hovering above her head, hi guys she calls to the group of adventurers, sorry I was alittle late coming in, this small silver fox caught my attention outside aand I just had to go over and make friends, of course nyx isnt happy that my attention isnt on her

Quercus couldn't help but go up to Branch and clasp his paw. "Sir, you have no idea how good it is to see you alive and well." Her smile couldn't be stopped if she tried. "Last I saw of your family they were healthy but I think Squirrelly could use some help. The violence DeWinter put in motion affected even the Offtime Saloon and it needs strong volunteers to get it back to normal. I feel I should say sir that your Chester has decided to become an adventurer so you should probably show him the ropes when you return." She hoped the news wouldn't worry Branch. After such a harsh experience she doubted he'd like the thought of his child trying such a life. But that was the future. She watched at Branch was jostled away by well wishers and those wanting to celebrate. Quercus felt like laughing and having a drink herself. It was good to know DeWinter was out of the way for good. She regretted not putting an arrow through his heart but in someways it was probably just as well that Jer finished him off. Besides, she doubted she would have found a target that small even at two paces from DeWinter. She gathered up a plateful of the spread that had been produced for the return of the victorious protectors and a tankered full of fruit juice. She wasn't in the mood for anything stronger. She spotted the Fellowship and went to join them. Smiling and laughing as the celebrations extended into the night, Quercus felt a degree of melencolly setting in. She was glad everything had worked out and that families were getting back together but... But tomorrow would dawn too soon. When it did, Quercus would not be returning to the Saloon. She would return to the quest that had led her to the Saloon in the first place. A journey she had yet to complete and one she would have to do without the Fellowship. Tipper and Star would be there and she felt certain she'd see the others again but none the less, this would probably be their last time together for the forseeable future. But goodbyes were for the dawn. Quercus pushed such thoughts away and focused on enjoying the last few hours together. There were drinks to try with Shikuyim, stories to share with Jean, tactics and discussions over DeWinter's fate with Venom and scratches to be given to Wolf all while Eden sang and told stories with the other bards. A grand ending to the adventure.

A huge smile on Sashi's face as she enters the Squirrel happy to be back. Caressing her blade, once again back on her side, a soft giggle escaping and a little wiggle loving the feeling of her own clothes. Lorne jetting by me, wondering eyes spot my team as i head for them giving that gopher a several pats on the back "well done, very amazing skills you have!" Drops down in a chair at the table with my team, my missed friend at my side. Slides my fingers through Lorne's fur watching everyone and enjoying the festivities.
