So.. Boy's doing mosquito control to prevent Dengue Fever in the Maldives in the fall. But in order to do that he has to get there first, and so do the other 7 or so volunteers for the project. If you have any interest in helping out, or want to help me out by just passing this link around with some info, I'd be super jazzed (: or you can just click it to read, because it's a pretty interesting project (and the people are super cool, too, and I'm not just saying that because my boyfriend and two of my friends are going!)
Click here if you want to do some signal-boosting donating andor reading. If you could throw this link out on Facebook, twitter, tumblr, what have you, I'd be really really appreciative!
I had never heard of Dengue Fever before, but he applied for the position and got picked to go! I'm simultaneously super jealous and also not. I mean, the Maldives are an absolutely beautiful, stunning, fantastic, clear-ocean-water-with-amazing-wildlife system of coral atolls, but . . . mosquitoes.
But I mean, look at this place!
Gah!
What do you guys think? Have you ever been there? Would you ever do this?
I hate to say this, I do but your signature makes a wonderful irony. However, I will send out the link and hopefully help you guys raise some funds for it.
Oh God, I want to do something like that so badly. I don't even care if it's in a beautiful place like that (although definite bonus there). I just feel like my life is going nowhere and I want to do something that really matters. I wish I could find a paying job that helps people like that, but if I could volunteer in the meantime, that would be amazing.
