Can we use old, official artwork and submit it as a custom pet overlay?
And since it would technically be a "custom" overlay, do we need to have the pet match the species/color right away (if at all)?
See, that's what I'm not sure of; I know it says that, but I assume that's so people can't "falsify" their pets with the current imagine - so I'm not sure. So I don't know if official is an umbrella term, or if it makes more of the current image that species/color is. (The image I want to use is literally something that got revamped like, 5 years ago - the old angelic kerubi - so I'm not sure what that might fall under)
You could always submit it and see what they say? Custom overlays have to get accepted like CWs do before they can be used so they would probably leave you a note like they do for CWs that tells you why it got denied.
if it were me, I'd go to Help and file a Ticket about it to get official word. It may slip by the people who vet the Overlays if they haven't been around Subeta that long, and it'd be a horrible thing if you got frozen over that mistake.
I'm probably going to end up making a ticket. If anything, I imagine if anyone has a similar question and comes across my thread, they won't have to make a ticket either - if I remember, I'm planning on editing my OP with the reply. xD
Wasn't planning on submitting it - I was just going to see if anyone else had a similar thing, and what happened in their case before making a ticket.
If it helps I've recently seen someone with a Custom Chibi Montre; it was basically the old Chibi Montre art with some dark spots added to its fur so I assume that, as long as you make some changes to the original old art, it should be fine to use it as a custom overlay.
