I've gotten a wisdom tooth extracted before. My mother had taken me in to get it done and stayed in the waiting area. I went under anesthesia and woke up pretty bloody, but otherwise alright :)

Here's the issue. My mother said that I was making a terribly loud scream during the procedure. The doctor started banging the walls and shouting for help from assistants.

I asked the staff and they said everything went fine.

Now that I need another extraction I want to know...is it OK to go back to this place? Is screaming normal during this surgery? I've been putting it off, but this jagged mutha of a tooth has grown horizontally into the side of my mouth :/ The scraping is getting unbearable.

I can't find any info online, and some people said the screaming doesn't sound normal.

It sounds like you might have reacted to the anesthesia, and that's not unnormal. I am not sure why the staff and your mother are telling two different stories, though.

I think you should go back to that place. If it's true that you screamed and reacted badly to the procedure, then they will at least be prepared for it and will know how to handle you :)

I was the only one in there, and there was only one doctor, so I know it was me screaming. It just put me off how standoffish the staff was :/

I am having a hard time finding another place that takes my insurance, however. I"m going to get some of that wax for braces and brave calling them on Monday :D I do remember having some really freaky trippy dreams during the surgery though o_o I prefer hospital anesthesia I guess.

As soon as the pain started there was a news article about someone who died while getting their wisdom tooth extracted. I haven't been in a rush to do this lol

Maybe they're too used to it, then ^^

Ugh, don't remind me. I still have my intact, even though the dentist wanted to take them out last year. Not because they were in the way or anything, it would just be a precaution. I think my face was something like this: O_O NONONONO O_O Mostly because going to the dentist is incredible expensive here, and I am poor.

Honestly I think some of them want to take them out so they can get the money :/ If you're 25 or over and they don't hurt, I don't think they do much shifting after that. If you're not in pain it shouldn't be necessary :)

I had to get all mine out at once because they were impacted. When I woke up from the anesthesia, my inner elbow and arm (where the IV had been) was severely bruised. The doctor said they gave me the normal dose of anesthesia and started the procedure, then I'd started screaming and fighting them...so they stopped and gave me MORE drugs to make sure I was completely out for the surgery. Maybe that happened in your case as well? It's a bit odd that they didn't say anything abnormal happened though.

That seems like it's what could have happened to me. It makes sense. Thank you for telling me :) I'm glad I'm not the only one that's screamed.

FOUR teeth at one time? Holy cow. I was a total baby after they took one out :o My first one was impacted. It was so painful when it was in my mouth; I couldn't sleep for 3 days.

I had all four out in January. I passed out before they even got the needle in me because they kept stabbing me (couldn't get a vein). I have really low blood pressure and anemia on top of it and they had a blood pressure thing that kept inflating... my arm went numb then I heard the dr screaming for oxygen. I woke up in the middle of it, heard my teeth breaking and getting ripped out and the dr insulting how badly my one filling was done... then woke up at the end when they were stitching me up, I felt the string on my face it was gross.. I think I might have done something because the assistants were like "it's okay honey!" then I passed out again. I had a really bad bruise on my arm from the needles that lasted about a month....

Afterwards SUCKED. I couldn't eat anything for days. My teeth were so badly impacted that they had to sew my cheek over the wound. My entire mouth was a giant stich... The worst part was when they started coming out. They still aren't healed completely yet, but I didn't get dry socket or anything though.

That's really weird that you;re hearing two different stories... and that your dr didn't have assistants in the room. I had like three assistants. If you can't find anywhere else to go then unfortunately you have to go back to them. If I was you I would've gotten them all out at once. I can't imagine going through it more than once. I hate needles. And doctors.

you dont need to be put under anesthesia for a wisdom tooth removal, i suggest finding a doctor who will use a local anesthetic.

That's scary...One of mine has just grown in :/ It isn't painful at the moment just a little sore. I'm hoping I won't need mine removed ;_; I've only been to the dentist 2 times in my entire life though, so I'm scared enough on top of that.

My insurance company has to approve all of the extractions...one at a time. They won't let me get more than one done at a time. Stupid policy :/

He had 2 assistants in the room. He had to call for more. I really think I was fighting during it. I'm a big girl, so maybe I did some real damage :D haha

And I'm just like you..I have small "rolling veins" Everyone sticks me multiple times. It's so annoying -_- I'm sorry it went so crappy for you. Least it's all over :)

Ohh okay. Three of mine were impacted so the insurance covered it but were being weird about my one non-impacted one. That's weird that they only will let you do one at a time since the anesthesia is so expensive. Stupid insurance.

Lol... right before I passed out I heard the dr say "you have no veins! it must take a LOT to get you drunk!" >.> So happy it's over. Good luck with the rest of yours x_x
