Show me your experiments!

Normally all my pictures have line art, or may as well do, it's been ages since I attempted anything like this, because the last time I did it failed dramatically. I'm still not overly impressed, but it came out better than I expected. Even if it was meant to be Ryan (Death Rides a Horse) not Angel Eyes (The Good, The Bad and The Ugly) XD

Wow that's really good! Love the colours and how you kind of made them flow into each other, really funky :)

I would try something like this if I had anything other than a mouse to work with XD

Thank you =3 It's perfectly possible to draw well with a mouse, I don't have the patience to learn (and I have a laptop sans a mouse XD) but I have the utmost respect for people who draw with a mouse.

You're welcome :D I'm actually working on a pic of one of my subeta pets with a mouse on paint, it's not too bad it just takes forever lol. As you can tell, I am well with the times XD

Pixel art... man I toyed with that for a bit, crazy shiz. I think anyone who can do stuff like this in paint and similar has their head on backwards in the best possible way. I like the effects that can be got with MSPaint, but I'd miss my layers too much (what? I don't have a software dependency, nope).

Haha I have to admit it drives me slightly insane sometimes... oh well XD I've used photoshop a bit at college, I'm totally in love with it lol. Just a little bit pricey though :P

I just have to say. This is so neat, just. I haven't figured out the magic behind limited colour palettes. xD It amazes me how much detail and form you can put into a piece of art with only a few colours to express them. ouo The high contrast especially has a really nice feel to it, I think, and also how every stroke adds to it. c;

I've also been meaning to experiment but I can't seem to figure out how to force myself out of my comfort zone. I wanted to try more dramatic and contrasting lighting but in the end I always revert to my more subtle purple/blue shading. D8

- I'm absolutely attempting to experiment lately. I'm very terrible at poses and backgrounds, so I'm doing that 100 theme challenge and slowly trying to push myself out of the mindset of blank backgrounds and standing only poses. Also, I'm messing around with limited colour palettes. Can't seem to get it right yet, haha. But your experiment came out amazing! I love the colour choices and how everything is laid out.

Yeah, it's why I'm using old CS2 V9.0. I was lucky there was a spare copy in the graphics department of the factory my dad works in (IT manager) so I'm using that, sooner or later I'll have to buy my own though wibble

I really had to force myself =S but it helped that when I was younger my art tutor at school used to metaphorically grab me by the scruff and throw me bodily into someone else's comfort zone to make me work differently ¬_¬;

Stuff like this is your friend. I've tried to do stuff like this before but spend all my time figuring out which colours to use and choosing them too specifically and messing up because of it, random palette generators force you to use colours, and this one is great because you can lock down colours if you really like one but none of the others, or if one colour just will never work or something. So you can focus on working out how to put the colours together, not which colours to use. Not thinking too hard about it can also be a great help. Remember the old adage: if it looks right, it probably is. Your gut will tell you if something doesn't look quite right.

Thank you =D I'm useless at those 100 themes, I do about 5 and get distracted. Uuuugghh... Poses =_= evil things. I don't know how people draw dynamic poses, it doesn't matter how much fur/hair/clothing direction and movement I put into it, it always ends up looking static. Bane of my art.

- So far I've finished two. xD I've never really gotten past five either, so I'm hoping this time it's different. And same for me. I don't see how people get that amazing pose down! I always have visions of drawings with poses that are so amazing and awesome, and then comes the time I draw it put it down on paper. -____-
