I'm hoping to plan a roleplay board with 2-4 other semi literate - literate roleplayers. I've roleplayed for years and I'm a bit out of touch, but I know how to write a good story and I'm eager to write something in the fantasy, steampunk, and/or dystopian genres. I love era based roleplays and I am also incredibly familiar with dystopian fantasy.

I have 3 characters who are developed, one only has artwork, one has a profile here, and another one has a very messy profile that I use primarily to store her art pieces. While they are developed in my head, they haven't been developed in code or concrete story lines yet.

We will be roleplaying on Subeta in the roleplay forums - all posts MUST follow Subeta's rules. OCC planning will be posted here.

I don't have any limits as per which pairings I roleplay (fxf, mxf, mxm), and I prefer that you don't either.

I won't respond to responses like "WE COULD DO VAMPIREXHUMAN FXF ROLEPLAY RIGHT OMG I'VE BEEN CRAVING THAT SO BAD LOLOL".

SPOILER (click to toggle) [spoiler=plot]

It is early morning and plumes of smoke have just started billowing from old, charred factory chimneys in the city. In Akaar (name negotiable/changeable), the general population consists of working folk. You don't submit to that type of grind. You make your living working off the land, in small pockets of forests that have yet to be developed. When your land is cleared to make dwellings and commerce centers, you move. You move to whatever is left.

You are part of a small community of craftsman who works off of the land in which you live. In this land, there is magic - and you have to create it, cultivate it in order to harness it's power. Magic is akin to its creator (more specifics on this later).

In this roleplay, your characters would be working craftsmen, historians, engineers, developers - basically, think 19th century steampunkery. They would come together with fully developed original back stories created by you, and learn that they need to come together to create something that is bigger than themselves - something that will save them, and society whose fate rests in their hands.

Post if you are interested! Once people start posting their characters, I'll post mine.

Hey there ^^ Your idea seems quite interesting and I would like to join, but I do have a few questions if you don't mind me asking. Just about the world in general and such. Apologies in advance if its too much.

The concept of living in an unfettered forest lifestyle, (living off the land?), would that incorporate roles such as carpenters and hunters and so on, or simply a community of craftsmen selling their wares to an industrialised world? Also, the magic idea, could you please expand on that? I would love to play a mage in this context. Lastly, I was wondering about why these people need to change their society. Is there any specific reason?

Ack, I just realised that I had written a chunk of questions up there. Sorry 'bout that ^^ Mine curiosity is a fierce thing. But, all in all, this has a lot of promise I think :] Hope this works out

- It would! These people are living alongside those in a more modern type society, so they would be naturally influenced by it.

The original idea of magic I have is one that would make the roleplay border more on magic realism - the magic would be found by the person who sought it - in times of need or in times of luck. The magic would then be harnessed, controlled by the person who found it and then absorbed into objects. These objects have to be handmade, and they have to be made by the person who is lucky enough to encounter magic in the first place.

My main idea was that the head of their society, a tyrant, is using magic wrongfully. He found a large magic source and he found a way to break the normal boundaries of magic and use it in a way that is harmful to his people. He is using this magic to stay in power - to keep his people thinking that he is a righteous, lawful man who is doing nothing but helping them. Think of this tyrant's source of magic more like a mana well - something that is both rare and powerful.

Most people in this society have forgotten that magic actually exists, and that is how the tyrant that cowers over them controls them. They live menial lives and they simply get by. The people who we would be focusing on, who are a subset of this main society, haven't forgotten and their goal will be to make people remember.

There will be an element of these people selling their products to the industrialized world. It won't be a focus though, this is merely how these folks get the money they need to buy food and other items necessary for their shelter and well being.

I have an older male mage character and a craftswoman developed.

That makes more sense now I think. Realism is good :]

Uhm ... since you already have a mage, how about I go for a hunter who has recently discovered some forms of magic? If there's anything wrong with his character or if it doesn't fit into the world or something happens, it can adapt ^^ Rips skeleton form from another RP I've done and modifies

Skell. {Name} - Sahaan Rakshore.

{Nickname} - Sah.

{Age} - 25 years.

{Gender} - Male.

{Story} - Sah's been living by himself for a while now. He hated the city and its crowded conditions, always hearing the hiss of steam and clank of turning gears. After his parents died, he and his little sister went their separate ways. Sahaan left his shipbuilding apprenticeship and travelled where he could, seeing the sights and living the life. It was when his money suddenly ran out, that he finally turned to a new apprenticeship, working for his food and board under an old man who taught him to hunt.

{Appearance} - Black hair, black eyes and slightly sun-darkened skin. Standing at nearly 180 in height, he has a slight complex about his under average height. Long coat and a buckled vest underneath.

{Craft} - Sahaan's a hunter. Any game, large or small, as long as it gets some money or glory. His childhood hero was one of those Victorian gentlemen who went on fine adventures and faced monsters. It's evidently rubbed off on him. He carries a pair of dark ash-wood flintlocks and a few hunting knives through his belt. Whilst not definitively strong or fast, he is possessed of a natural agility and quick reflexes.

{Magic} - Have absolutely no idea of what to write here. o_0

{Extra Info} - In his life, he's been gifted with two precious things. The first's his pistols from his mentor. The other's a rather large grey brindled dog from his sister. Its been conveniently trained as a hunting hound and also to carry saddlebag like harness on its back. Its easier for him to have a packdog then to carry stuff himself.

Well then. Hope that's somewhat along the lines of normality ^^

Skeleton {Name} - Dinea Roch (Pronounced 'Roke')

{Nickname} - N/A

{Age} - 19 Years

{Gender} - Female

{Story} - Dinea is a gifted craftswoman. She learned her trade in the city through her father who was a lead architect in his field. When her father died, she was left homeless. He used all of his wages to put them up in a nice, large home in the city. As per the nature of city living, though, he didn't own his home. He rented from a careless, wealthy treasurer and as soon as the treasurer found out that Dinea's father had died, Dinea was kicked to the street with her and her father's things. She managed to sell off most of their belongings, but she only made enough to cover her bare minimum living expenses. Eventually, she found a band of what she considered rogues and decided that they could keep her safe.

Dinea prefers companionship. In fact, she gets stir crazy when she is alone for long periods of time. Because of that, most of her peers think that she is needy and they like to poke fun at her for it.

{Appearance} -

{Craft} - Dinea's a craftswoman. She sees plots of land and instantly knows how to use it equitably. She is an excellent carver and builder. She is also familiar with metal working.

{Magic} - Dinea knows no magic. Eventually, she will become connected with it and use her skill as a craftswoman to foster it, but that won't happen for a long, long time.

{Extra Info} - Dinea loves her red hair ribbon. It was the last gift her father gave her before he died, so she is very protective of it.

Dinea is my main character here. I've done more work on her so I know her personality inside and out so she should be incredibly easy to roleplay.

Well then, two characters (by the way, you may wish to look at Arsem's {Craft} bit) and an unnamed dictator. I can just see the conflict between a domestic dog and wolves/wolven connections. If we need more characters, I know few people who RP ^^ May I suggest Victor Valadric as a partial name? It just sounds so pompous and was the first thing I though off when you mentioned the "tyrant" : D

Also, will this be a meeting of rebels, separate from the craftsmen? (NPC craftsmen?)

  • That art is so pretty ... if I may ask, did you draw it yourself or if not, where from?

- the art was an order from . is her manager and you can talk to her about orders. I had ordered it originally for a tabletop game concept I was going to build, but, the idea is sitting aside as I finish college!

If you know any other roleplayers that would be EXCELLENT! I'm imagining this could be managable (and end up well!) if we could pull together 2-3 more people.

There will be a few NPC characters who we can develop as they are necessary, I imagine what we'll be doing first is breaking down a general storyline and some scenery first here. I don't want everything to be over planned - I'd like for there to be an element of mystery, roleplaying is always much more fun and enjoyable for me when I can just write about what I'm inspired to write about, rather than to be controlled over an overbearing plot!

Think of it kinda like a Dungeons and Dragons game without the dice roll element... or even a video game like Skyrim where you have a base storyline but you play the game out in ways that you'd like to.

Victor is an EPIC dictator name! Except... VV, the initials... They sound a bit... fantasy Molly Sue. I do like the 'ric' syllable in the last name though.

Should I ping the Lit RP group? Or do you think you might be linked with enough people who RP?

Ping away ! I probably won't get too many of them interested for now I think. Also, by all means, change the last name, it was just a slight thought that crept up anyway.

Tabletops'. And Skyrim even. I get it now. I relate ^^

.Edge - Lovely! Read up on the past posts, and post a character that you think may fit when you're ready.

- I'm thinking that if each person has 2--3 characters we may be able to manage in the beginning and invite players in later on.

I'll be acting as my two characters and after every 3 or so posts I'll post a plot/scenery twist/update to keep us moving. I'll probably get my 2nd character up later today. I'll post a potential start post here and if everyone agrees on it, I will take it to the roleplay boards.

Eh, two characters? Mind if I write one for now and add in the second sometime later? Also, in between your update posts, the other posts from the characters will be just reactions and so on?

- Not at all! The update posts will be separate, mostly details... say, in regards to a possible political upheaval or the birth of a new rebellion... They will be more like a news report, but, cleverly worded (possibly through a NPC).

How I imagine this will go well is if we take turns, like - say I post, pose a question to one of Ice.Edge's characters, but it is Fare's turn. My question would wait while your turn to post took place. That way, we'd have order and the story would make sense timeline wise. That also makes it easier for us to introduce new characters/roleplayers. I'll be posting the intro up this weekend, I'm in the middle of the start of my last quarter of college right now so this week will be busy until I get all my work/extra credit done.
