I can't believe she could get 45 years for this.
I mean at her age that's a life sentence. She'd die in there. Over cheating. I don't want to sound like I'm siding with her; what she did was wrong and she's got to pay for it. But this is insane. There are murderers that don't get that heavy a sentence.
Wow her sentence is insane. She shouldn't have been cheating but there are rapists, murderers and child molesters who get less time this is crazy. The punishment ought to fit the crime and this does not.

Yeah, 45 years seems harsh. However, she's been implicated in an organized cheating conspiracy on standardized tests. The results of these tests influences how much aid that school district gets from the government (state and federal). So it is a big deal and should get a number of years for it.
That piece of crap who set the Autistic guy on fire and killed him only got 21 months in jail while she faces up to 45 years? There's something seriously wrong here
Yeah, but it shouldn't mean her life. She's an old woman ( in her mid-sixties). She'll die in prison if they give her forty-five years.
This is fucked up. 45 years is WAY too long and this sets an awful example. Kill people, only get months. Rape someone, only get a few years. But cheat? REST OF YOUR LIFE.
:(

She could get up to 45 years....its doubtful that would happen. I would wait until there's actually a trial, conviction and sentencing before screaming too loudly.

This is why the justice system across the world is really flawed and inconsistent. While the comparative severity of some crimes can be arguable (ex.: theft vs selling illegal drugs), I don't think anyone would find falsification of standardized test scores to be worse than something like first degree murder.
Also, when reading the topic title, did anyone else think this would be about adultery/infidelity? Maybe that is just me, despite those immoral acts being legal in most parts of the western world (albeit strongly frowned upon).

Yeah that's excessive... But that's the max sentence. There's a lot of things involved, and I think listing the MAX is a bit dramatic. But like someone above said, that's actually stealing a lot of money and not giving the education that they should. This isn't just "cheating" this is fraud and they need to "set an example", so I don't know if I feel too bad for her...
That's the maximum and it's likely also not concurrent. So 10 counts of something that carries a 4.5 year sentence, served back to back, when that would likely never be the case in something short of a violent offender. Hell, many violent offenders are given concurrent sentences.
