The last year for biting was back in 2012. This new strain, or whatever it is, is new to this year.

Basically what the two other users said. They tend to change it up each year, and last year we had no zombies at all (this is why you will see those achievements as retired).

There is a current event going on right now where you can do a quest for bubbles (it will appear at the top of your page) and he will give you a vial you can drink which we believe will be a temporary strain.

After taking a drink you start to feel a little strange. means im a zombie correct? how do u come permenate zombie

At this moment we are not positive since this is a brand new feature they just added.

The news pages says this is temporary, but it could end up being something else - perhaps not even a zombie! We will have to wait and see :)

Goodluck! I know I was able to drink the vial and I am already a zombie, which in the past we could not do something like that. So I am unsure...but I will keep my fingers crossed for you :)

As far as I know, there is no way to be a permanent zombie any more. Even the page, AFTER you click to DRINK VIAL says

There is not currently a way to become a permanent zombie. That doesn't mean there won't be any in the future sometime.
