So, I've been out of work for almost 3 months because I was working at school as a student worker. I graduated with my Bachelors degree in December, and since then I've been killing myself trying to find a job.
I've been waiting for this one company to get back to me - it took them a month to call me back to authorize the background, credit, and drug tests. -_- Then they told me it could be another month before I got a second interview. I lost patience.
I went up to school last week and met with the director of career services, and she and I revamped my resume and looked at some really promising job leads. There was one in particular that worked for me because it was 5 minutes away from home, with a store I've shopped at for years, and my DoCS knew the loss prevention supervisor over there. Friday evening he e-mailed me to schedule an in-person interview.
Interview was Monday, it went amazing, and this guy doesn't play around, so he pushed the background check forward and promised he'd get back to me by Friday.
Today is Friday, and my friends, I am officially employed!! :D He called and made the offer, I accepted, and I start on the 5th of March! :D
TL;DR - After 3 long months of unemployment, I got a job! Whoopee!!
Congratulations! This is a great lesson on how to get a job, which is to use whatever resources you have and work within your network.

Oh Congrats !! That is definitely better than the other one who took so long to get back to you. This sounds like a company that gets things done! And 5 minutes from home at a place you are familiar with, even better! :D
Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! Congrats! That's awesome :)

Nice! If they care about their applicants that much, I can't image how well they would treat their actually employees, which is you now! Whee!
Congratulations! Finding a job can be a long and tedious journey and I'm glad yours ended in success.

I can't WAIT until that other company calls me back! Bwahahaha! I can't wait to respectfully withdraw myself from the running for that other position. >:)
Thanks for all the kind words everyone! :D No one is happier right now than my fiance - I'll be able to help him out with bills, groceries, and, oh yeah, we can start saving for and planning our wedding again! :D
Happy dances! :D
