Hello c: I'm having one of my loneliness crysis and I tought to chit chat a bit to calm down XD

Do you know about Ball-jointed dolls and Dollfies? If you don't, I have a brief explanation made with my lovely & rusty english XD Those are a particular kind of fully-posable dolls made of various materials: BJDs are "made up" by pieces made of resin held together by a series strings and elastics, while dollfies are made of plastic (usually vinile's polymers of soft texture). Most of them are very expensive, but worth (or so many says). The most of dollfies produced in Japan are made after japanese characters from videogames, anime, mangas and novels. These dolls comes in various sizes and type of bodies (some companies even make centaur, fairy, scorpion, cyborg and other fantasy & sci-fi related bodies!)... Some are 65 cm high, others can be so tiny you can hold them in one hand! The funny thing about the most of them is customization: you can change their make-up/face-up, body parts, eyes, hair, skin tone and, of course, clothes! At the moment there are a lot of brands that works on them; the first ones were Volks and Obitsu, they both released their first doll-related products in 2003-2004. Usually people separate BJDs from Dollfies, but I like to think they are a big family even if there are quite some differences between the two groups c:

I think I haven't made any mistakes... o3o

Do you have some? If you do, which ones? Do you have a picture of your "family"? Do you like them? Do you avoid them just for their price or you think these kind of dolls are creepy? Also, which is the "side" if them you like the most?

I want to show you my little family ❤ Latooni and Estel (orginally Maria Ushiromiya), my 2 Mini Dollfie Dream by Volks!

Have fun around Subeta!

I learned something new today. But no, I have none. The closest I can identify are my custom Lego figures. But theses are not nearly as build-to-suit as what you describe. Perhaps I'll look into it.

Old, and obsolete.

Oh gosh, I've always loved BJDs since I discovered them when I was about eleven, But I was always a bit nervous to take it up as a hobby since doll collecting isn't typically a hobby boys take up. Now I don't care all that much, it's just the cost I'm worried about. Quality bases are NOT cheap, and I've always wanted to make my own, so I also have the additional costs of time and supplies to put toward it. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to some day. It just seems so much more satisfying to craft the characters myself rather than sending them out to be painted. Maybe some time in the future, when money is not such an issue. I'll just have to content myself with BJD pictures and blogs.

Your dolls are so cute!

There is a group of girls and one guy that go to thel mall with their dollfies. They carry the dolls as if they were new born babies and talk to them, they even buy them meals. They freak me out personally but whatever floats yourboat.

I was just looking for a BJD thread! There was one a while back but I think it vanished.

I love BJDs, and I've just recently gotten another one. All of my BJDs are resin except for one in ABS, but I wouldn't mind getting a Dollfie Dream Dynamite. They look so squishy.

Do you have some? If you do, which ones? I have fifteen BJDs, and that is counting floating heads. Three SDs, one MSD, four YO-SDs, and seven heads (soon to be only six heads, and then four SDs : o). It's a lot to list, haha, so you can just take a look at my flickr for their sculpts.

Do you have a picture of your "family"? I don't have a picture of them all together, I'm waiting until all of my heads get bodies first.

Do you like them? I love them ❤️ Doll collecting is pretty much my only hobby, and I'm fine with that.

Do you avoid them just for their price or you think these kind of dolls are creepy? I don't think they're creepy, but I know lots of people do, so I'm really self-conscious when I'm taking pictures of them outside or carrying them out to the car to go somewhere.

Also, which is the "side" if them you like the most? I love to take pictures of them, but when I do I usually don't post them anywhere (except just to show people them in a non-artistic way). My favorite thing to do is dress them up and change their wigs, I've always loved to change doll's clothes.
