I'm so stupid >< I swallowed my lip ring, and now I'm going to die of lip ring poisoning :/ Has this happened to anyone, or am I just the biggest dummy ever?

I've swallowed quite a few balls off my tongue ring (lol) and I haven't died. I'm sure you'll be fine.

I swallowed the whole stud. I'm making myself sick because of paranoia D; Though, I can't even take tylenol without feeling ill.

This happens to people all the time, you have nothing to worry about, its probably small and should pass just fine. You can't be poisoned by it.

You'll be fine-as many others said already such things happen all the time,your stomach acid may very well dissolve it but even if it does not dissolve it'll pass through your digestive system and out of your body without incident. :)

A friend of mine sometimes manages to swallow her tongue piercing and she's fine, I'm sure you'll be okay.

As long as it doesn't have some sort of sharp jagged needle thing sticking out of it, it should be small enough to pass through your system while causing no damage. Your body passes things as large as sunflower seeds and such all the time no problem.

Lol, I was kidding about the poison part. I'm more worried about it getting like lodged in my intestines, or something like that lol

It depends on the material it was made from but here's a thought to calm you: Even if the manufacturer of the swallowed item doesn't care if it injured you when swallowed he'd quite rightly be sued of everything he owned or earned for the rest of his life if such a thing occurred and that would motivate him to make certain it could not. I would also bring your attention to how tough stomach's are-I know many people are vegan etc these days but if you or a friend ever ate tripe you'll agree with me (I've had it)when I say the stomach is not a soft or tender organ.You can probably expedite the objects travel with otc stool softeners and/or preparations used to relieve constipation but I don't know enough about those things to advise anything except ask a health professional.

It'll probably pass right through your body/intestines without any problem at all. Just relax. It's like how a cow can swallow a magnet and be fine.

If it does happen, then I'm sure the people that make the rings, bars, etc. have this type of stuff in mind. If it were to cause digestion problems from accidental swallowing (and if it really is that common), I think they would have to be banned/not allowed to sell it.

they wouldn't be allowed to sell piercing jewelry if it was toxic or harmful to your health. it's going to pass through and you're not even going to notice. you're making yourself sick over nothing!

I've had my lip pierced for almost 5 years now and this is the first time I've ever done it..but apparently it's a common thing. Which makes me feel better xD

Well, I took out my hoop and put in just a stud, and didn't put the ball on it, because I went up to do a background check at a place I am trying to get a job at, and when I only have a stud in you can't really notice that my lip is even pierced...but as soon as I got home, I completely forgot to put the hoop back in, and swallowed it =/ Lol...

Well it's been almost 24 hours, and I'm still alive (:

oh yeah, that makes sense. that sucks, at least it wasnt a huge piercing though.
