Are you interested in seeing a psychologist?

- what was it about the time you had a job that helped you? Was it earning a paycheck? Feeling worthwhile? Feeling like you were moving on with your career/life? Analyze how it helped and try to recreate it. For example, lets say it was more the aspect that you were gaining experience, rather than just earning a paycheck. Well you might want to consider volunteer opportunities that will do the same.

Both schools and employers appreciate volunteer experience, they show that you are a self-starter, that you are motivated by more than money.

Volunteering and helping others may also show you different paths to helping yourself.

With depression it can also be hard to get motivated, to get moving, but if you schedule volunteer time and people are counting on you, that can help get you past that.

You mentioned you tried getting help, but it wasn't helpful. Well, try again. There are counselors, psychologists, psychiatrists and a variety of other professionals out there. If one didn't click with you, another could. Interview them like a job applicant, find someone who thinks like you do (they encourage/discourage drugs, they are warm or more clinical), everyone responds differently, experiment to find out what/who you respond best to. I guarantee there is someone out there who you can work with and who will be helpful - unfortunately, it may take a lot of effort to find them. And depression tends to suck the energy out of you, making it very hard indeed to work at it.

Right now, for today, live for your loved ones, your friends and family. While I agree that you can't live for them forever, you can do so for now. Give yourself time to try to turn your life around. To find hope, to find help.

Perhaps consider joining an online (or real life) depression self-help group. Look on the internet to find some options.

I have seen many different professionals but it didn't help that much. I just felt my situation being underestimated.
