Sabriel has problems.

I've been trying to figure out what's wrong with her profile for over two months now (she was first rejected in late July). I've made changes to her page every week that she's been rejected, and I was certain I had cleared them up this time. I guess not! So that's where you guys come in. I am really, really starting to not have fun editing her - midterms are fast approaching for me and it's not like I can devote all my time to figuring out what the heck is wrong. Do any of you have an idea as to what may be the problem? Even if it's the slightest guess, I would love to hear! :D

I mean, I won't give up, but this is starting to be way more trouble than it's worth. :( Oh, and I'm sorry if I sounded whiny or anything. I can only assume that it is because of the composure notes in the bottom right corner, they're covering up some of the treasure chest. So I think you might want to remove that or make it so you can scroll through her TC? Lovely profile and everything else!

You think so? I'll keep that in mind... that's actually something I added most recently - I covered part of the treasure chest so that, when you do scroll, it looks like it's coming out from underneath the notes. Are you having problems scrolling through the TC? You're supposed to be able to click on it and scroll using the up and down arrow keys, but maybe that doesn't work as well as I thought it did. :( She was getting rejected before I moved the treasure chest to that position (it used to be under the story), but who knows, maybe I fixed one problem but added another! Anyway, thank you very much for taking a look at her. That means a lot to me. n__n

Aww, so much stress over rejections lately :( I like the treasure coming from below and I don't see how that would be a problem. What bothers me is the 'jump' caused by anchors on smaller resolutions but it's not really...possible to fix.

As far as I know it's not possible to fix, either, especially since I have no smaller resolution screens on which I can test it out. I've seen spotlight winners with similar coding, too, so I thought it'd be acceptable. How does it jump for you, if I may ask? For me, when I click on any of the three main sections, the screen "jumps" so that you can still see the three section buttons, plus the box that contains the entire story/information/etc. (Thanks for the help, by the way! :D)

Really now? Oh, that's a shame. D: It works for me... you do have to click on the treasure chest area first to get it to work (or just scroll with a mouse wheel, if you have one of those). If it's not working then maybe that's the problem. I'll probably remove the notes too, just to see. Thank you for the suggestion! :D

I truly am sorry, you guys, for pinging you so much. :c I know I've asked a billion times, but can someone, for the love of all things good, tell me why Sabriel was rejected from the spotlight yet again? This is like... her tenth rejection, at least. She's been rejected every week for the past 2 1/2 months. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as always! ❤

I'll take a gander that... maybe a minor detail like the harp images? idk, it kind of bothers me how there's background graphics and there's harp images just sitting there with their white backgrounds jutting out like that.

I also noticed that both your TC and story blocks scroll, so I don't understand why you don't just display the whole TC (instead of scrolling) and go with that height for the story block.

Also, as much as I do like the story (played many years in an orchestra myself, even if it's been violin parts) -- I feel like it's a little bit too drawn out. My attention keeps getting drawn away from it rather than drawn into the story. If you want to make edits toward that, I hope you keep that in mind c: I myself tend to get unnecessarily wordy/sometimes drawn out syntax, so I'm always cutting stuff I thought was an important detail at the time I wrote it.

(Also, I don't think that " single note upon which she left unresolved" notes are unresolved, it's cadences that get resolved or not. But I'm just nitpicking and it's not like a layperson knows what the hell "unresolved" means in music, so... edit? idk? similarly, not everybody is knowledgeable as to what "chords, arpeggios, and glissandos" are, so I'd say like "chiming chords, cascading arpeggios and sliding glissandos")

for me the profile also scrolls horizontally. Profiles should fit within a maximum of 1k px width.

The treasure's scrollbar cover or cue to scroll is off by about 2 px in Chrome Might be a new thing though looks at previously opened profile where it's fine

@ CHEN Thank you for your detailed help! For the images of the harps themselves, I guess I could link to them instead of leaving them on the page. I would really like to have some sort of visual reference for the information part so that people aren't confused.

As for the TC thing... I tried re-reading that over and over, and I still don't understand what you mean. D; When you say "go with that height for the story block", do you mean adjust the story section so that it's as tall as the TC? Or vice versa? That would require actually editing the profile bg. Is that what you're suggesting? I also don't understand what you mean by saying "display the whole TC". It needs to scroll, there's a lot of items in there... :c

But thank you for pointing that out about the story! I haven't looked at it in a while. Perhaps because I know all these terms and sounds and whatnot, I completely forgot that it's practically a different language to most people. I really appreciate the nitpicking, I will take these things into consideration over the next week!

My guess would be you changing the resolution of the profile did it, so don't forget about it if you keep it smaller :)

ah sorry. I meant having the TC not scroll, but it does get a little annoying for those of us with smaller resolutions (having a div that's taller than our page body scroll, while the body scrolls too omg) If you wanna take that into consideration I'd make the margins between individual TC items much smaller. and ya... all of that would take tweaking of the graphics.

Also, just a matter of taste (and resolution) - I personally don't like huge profiles that can easily be like 30% smaller without losing the desired effect. screencap 100% [x] screencap like 20% smaller [x]

No problem, and thanks for re-explaining! I get what you mean, so I'll see if I can address that issue as well. I tend to forget about all the different resolutions that exist, so now that you've said something I'm going to want to fix it so I don't alienate viewers. I trimmed the story a bit last night and played a bit with the font, too, so now it's hopefully easier to read? I think so, but I guess I'll see what happens next time she's nominated. Thanks so much, you have no idea how much that helped! I was really stumped, but now that you've pointed out some things I didn't consider beforehand, I think things will be better. :D
