Every time I try to get a new one, it says your only aloud five pets and I see people with way more than five. What is it time or something?

Nope it isn't a time thing. :) You need to have a gold account to have up to 10 pets. ;)

6 - 10 Pets ~ you need a Gold Account for that, to get it you must activate a Gold Account Medal that you can buy with sP from another user or with real money from the Cash Shop

11 - 20 Pets ~ active Gold Account + Mystical Plushies, that are also Cash Shop Items; each Mystical Montre Plushie will be give one additional slot, each Mystical Donadak two more slots
