I read something about this yesterday, but was too busy at the time to read the details. History in the making! It'll be interesting to see what happens.

Wow this could be really cool. I never thought it was possible to see this happen while I was alive. I find it pretty awesome.

This is pretty cool. America is already an ethnically and culturally diverse society (I believe that Mitt Romney lost the election because he failed to realize this in fact), but Puerto Rico becoming a state will increase this diversity even more. More diversity is always a good thing to me. The thing that I wouldn't like about Puerto Rico becoming a state would be that we would have 51 states, which just doesn't seem like a very pretty number whereas 50 is such a nice, memorable number. Not to mention that the American flag would look ugly with 51 stars on it.

That kind of bothers me too. They have been talking about making Puerto Rico a state for years. But this should be interesting.

NooOOoOOOOO we're NOT gonna become a state anytime soon. I'm actually from PR so let me tell you WHY: The plebiscite was really badly done and apparently very confusing for those who went to vote. It had two question and a LOT of voters (almost 500,000) left the second question in blank. I think they're even planning to redo the plebiscite. Furthermore, even if a second plebiscite is done and statehood wins, it is VERY dubious that the US would approve it for VARIOUS reasons (most of the people here don't even speak English!!!!), especially considering the historical relation they've had with PR. SOrry guys. If we ever became a state we'd be the first ones to let you guys know.
