lol

i'm at work (i'm a secretary/receptionist) and there are two chickens outside the door. mind you, i work in town, actually next to a pretty busy road. at first it was cute, two little roosters waiting at the office door every morning. they look in and peck at the door, scratch around in the weeds, take dust baths in our dry flowerbed. but now, its distracting and stressful watching them run across the road all the time, watching cars brake and swerve to avoid them. nuisance animal right? i called animal control but they transferred me to a trapping service, which told me "we only trap predatory animals" and told me to call animal control. u_u

so i guess there's nothing else i can do?

tl;dr does anyone want some chickens?

Surely there has too be a garden or back area someone could put something in. Who would just leave two chickens in the middle of town? :)

You can probably rent a live trap or two for pretty cheap from your local animal control or humane society and trap them yourself. Then you could advertise for a home for them in the paper or on Craigslist. That way they won't get hit on that road. :/

thats what i thought :( They are healthy and tame so i guess someone just had chickens in their yard and left the gate open or something. although i've never seen chickens around this part of town before. still, no idea where they came from

yeah, i asked about trap rental! my local animal control just does not offer any kind of trap renting service. :/ i DID just put up a craigslist "found" ad! so thank you for the idea! I have had experience rounding up chickens in the past so if anyone is interested i can help them out

a coworker made the mistake of feeding them an orange. so now they will probably not leave us alone ever again. lol

Some hardware stores sell traps and also rent them out, if that's of any help? If I lived close, I'd totally come get them. I have a friend who raises chickens from rescues, so they'd love to take them. :P Don't suppose you're in W. Michigan? Lol

Where are you at, btw? I live in SE Michigan...if you were close, I'd bring my trap and help out.

oh sadly, i'm all the way over here in California :( i appreciate it tho

i used to live in MN tho, on a farm too. probably why i feel so bad for these stupid roosters, since i used to take care of chickens all the time and i know they aren't getting everything they need from peoples yards nearby

i'll keep thinking about pursuing a trap rental, although the problem is that i live in a tiny apartment and i lack the time and resources to properly care for them, so i have no idea what i'd do after rounding them up! it sounds like the local shelter doesn't even take birds.

Are there many farm areas around there? Maybe if you asked a few of them if they could take them in, they would?
