For years I've seen overlays of pets that are edited versions of official art. Couple things have been recolored, or things have been added. But the rules make it sound like this is against site rules.
So I'm confused. If I took a picture of a Nightmare Jollin and edited in photoshop to change the spot colors and put it up as an overlay, would that be breaking the rules?
It doesn't seem to be against the rules to do overlays like that as long as all proper credit is given and as long as it does not deliberately mislead people into thinking that the pet is a different species/color combo than it actually is.

Like MrCool said, you can manipulate official pet art, but you can't put up a cream irion with nightmare telenine official art as it's overlay and imply that it is something it's not.
I'm still rather confused because I looked at the rules again
[quote]You are allowed to use a custom image representing your pet to overlay on the original pet image as long as the pet's name, true color, specie, gender, and owner are still visible and not misrepresented in any way. Misrepresenting any details -- including stats -- is not allowed. In short, overlays are okay as long as textual details are not covered, and current, unaltered official art is not used. These same rules apply to minion and treasure chest overlays as well.[/qoute]
Aren't the pet images considered official art? And isn't editing them for an overlay considered altering them?
Never mind I think I finally understood XD
Sorry to waste your time lol
