I've recently started a new job a week or so ago, and it's going okay. I mean, it's not glamourous and I certainly hate wearing the damn uniform, but it gives me money and I need to pay for uni books and all...
ANYWAY - since I'm the newbie, I have to sweep and mop and clear out the eating area, filled with tables and chairs. It's all good, I can handle that. What I can't handle, are the IDIOTS who walk straight through the area while I'm mopping.
Seriously, the tables are stacked, the chairs are stacked, the area is closed off with a few spare chairs and there's a bright FLUORO pink sign that says 'Caution: WET FLOORS' with a picture of a little man slipping over, most likely to later trip and snap his sticky little neck.
But does that stop people from walking through? Does that stop them from trailing dirt and goodness-knows-what-else through the space I've just mopped until it shone?
FREAKING NO!
I just wanna stop them and ask them what the crap they're doing? Are they doing it on purpose to annoy me? Or are they just that thick that they walk straight through?
What the crap, CC? D';
Join me in my hatred of the idiots. T^T
People can be thoughtless, thankless, rude and indifferent. Sometimes they really are doing it just to piss somebody off, but mostly it's just that they were raised to utterly ignore everybody around them. Just keep working, smile and warn them to please be careful because the floor is WET and trust that karma will bite them in the ass for their actions.
Well it was there dumb fault for coming in whilst you were closing up shop, but otherwise, if stepping in the mopped area is unavoidable, wouldn't you walk through it?
Seems awfully rude, seeing as the area's closed off. Probably best to let them know it IS closed off, unless they have to walk through the area to get out.
I usually get cleaning staff giving me dirty looks for walking on their freshly-mopped floors - but the area isn't closed off, shop doesn't close for a while, and it's the only route in/out... so I don't have a choice but to walk there. Sorry I can't bloody levitate. The cheek of some people :U

: That's all very true. And, I mean, there's not much else I CAN do. Going off at them would probably entail me being fired, or at the very least yelled at. Loudly. I'm just waiting for one of them to start walking, slip over and then blame me for it. ;__________;
: That's the thing though, it's totally avoidable. The place I work is like a little food-shop in the middle of one wing of the shopping centre. There's LOADS of space all around it. They could easily walk around, but nobody ever does. T^T
: Tis true. D; It's kind of obvious though. The space is surrounded by chairs and stacked tables, and there's at least two or three metres -if not more than that- of free space around the closed-off area. They're all SILLY HEADS!
Nahh, that's different. If there's nowhere else to walk and they're cleaning before it's time to close up, then what else do they expect you to do? D;
Reminds me of when I worked at sonic
One day, I had to put soap in the trash cans and hose them out, so they don't stink as much. I have the trash can at the end of the drive-thru over on it's side, and I'm hosing it out. It is clearly being cleaned. Some ASSHOLE drives up, looks at me, looks at the trashcan I am washing, looks at his trash, then throws it in the trashcan I am cleaning at that moment. I throw down the hose "what the fuck? Do you not see that I am cleaning the stupid thing?!" I grabbed he bag of trash and threw it back at him. The manager walks around the corner as I do this, and the man drives away. My manager just shook his head "that guy was a prick, you aren't in trouble" he said.
I was so happy to be able to do that
We'll look any man straight in his eyes and say
"Kiss my Irish ass! ya better kiss my Irish ASS!"
: Well there's not much to be done about it. I think I just have to put up with it until I quit. Which should be soon. I was only really working to pay for my uni books. Plus I've got another place somewhere else. Where I won't have to mop up after other people. xD
: What a jerk! I hate it when people are so rude. It's OBVIOUS you were cleaning it, why the crap would he put his trash in there? WHO THE CRAP PUTS THEIR TRASH IN A RANDOM TRASH CAN ANYWAY? -flails- At least your manager was reasonable about it. Mine would bite my head off. "It's all about the customer, Ari." -_____________________-
kind of like how when i'm at work cleaning glass before closing, and everyone just seems to feel so compelled to put their gross hands all over the glass just after i finish cleaning it, as i'm standing right there next to them. drives me fucking insane. it's like, hello, thanks for deciding to come in five minutes before close, the least you could do is keep your filthy hands off of my fucking glass, asshole. most of the time i go and write up a 'do not touch the glass' sign and tape it up as they're still standing there out of spite.

: OHMYGOSH THEY DO THAT HERE AS WELL! We've go this big display window, full of pastries and donuts and whatnot, and I'll be standing near it, wiping down other windows after having just cleaned it and then they all come up, pointing their fingers on it. "I want this one, oh no, I want THIS one!" and then they their finger around on the glass like they're playing connect the dots or something. STOP TOUCHING THE DAMN WINDOW! I wish I could do the same though, sticking up a sign. I'd probably be told off or something. T__________T
UGH GOD I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN!! okay so I used to work at the library, and I was pretty much in charge of the newspaper/magazine/textbook section of the library right? It took me forEVER to search through all the newspapers and get them sorted correctly, cause people screw them up ALL the time. So I'm done, after about forty-five to fifty minutes to organize FOUR shelves stacked to the brim with newspapers. AND ALL OF A SUDDEN, apparently EVERY BODY in the WHOLE GODDANG LIBRARY feels the need to rustle through all the newspapers and throw them on the floor. I seriously just watched them chuck them on the floor. and leave. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF. So I know how you feel. stupid stupid STUPID people. my boyfriend probably has a lot more stories to tell - he works at steak 'n' shake, poor guy XD
UHG, morons. -.-;; I know what you mean though. I always try to avoid stomping right through whenever someone's mopping, something I picked up from my mom. I feel like whenever I do that the employee doesn't even care most of the time. They kind of stare like "what the heck did you do that for?" but clearly sometimes it's a good thing to do. xD Maybe when I'm back in the US where people won't be so preoccupied with my white skin... Butyeah. They's definitely some rude morons. >L
This reminds me of when I worked for Subway and I would be spraying down the tables and someone would just sit there while I was still cleaning it up then look at me and say that it's still wet. lol I was always tempted to spray their face or the food and say that I didn't see either one.:P Unfortunately my boss was like yours in that you had to bow down to the customer.
