I want to post a topic but I'm not sure which genera to place it in. It's about drawing, writing, ect. But I'm not sure whether to post it in art or chat.

Hello! A question about art would go in Art Discussion. You can tell which forum is most appropriate by clicking into that forum and looking at the top threads - there is usually one called "So-and-So-Forum Rules" and one called "Useful So-and-So-Forum Threads". If you read the Rules, they will give you an idea of what belongs in that particular forum. Also, just take a look at what other threads are being posted. In the Art Market forum, you generally only find threads that are about selling or buying art - hence the "market" part. If you look at the Art Discussion forum, you can see many other questions. I also am going to go ahead and move this thread to Help and Questions, since that is where you would go to get any general Subeta questions answered. General Discussion is more for just Subeta discussions. You can ask a MM to help you at any time if you become unsure, and if you do end up putting it in the wrong forum, a MM can move it for you without any problems. :)

Minimod! Each forum has its own MMs; for example, I am the Minimod of the General Discussions forum, and and are the MMs of this Help and Questions forum. You can tell which user is the MM of a particular forum by going to that forum and looking at the very top of the page. There will be a bar with the word "MiniMods" on it, and underneath that, it names who the MM(s) are for that forum. They are in charge of locking threads, moving them to the right place, and just generally taking care of that forum.
