I just got a new laptop and for some reason it wont let me hover or put things on in my wardrobe. Is this some kind of setting I need to change?
... That is my daughter's post. I was just wondering if you might know what is wrong in her wardrobe. I hope you don't mind me pinging you when I have a question. ^-^
while I know a lot about Subeta, I'm not so strong on computer issues which is what this seems like. You can ping me when you have a question, but this may reduce the chances of you getting a good answer from someone who does know but who thinks you are asking me. I "hang out" in Help & Questions, so it's not too likely I'd miss a question.
Hello ! I know that when my windows 7 machine was new, silverlight interfered with hover. (I find silverlight to be generally obnoxious). I know that when hovering over items was first introduced to Subeta, some browsers worked better with it than others. Safari wouldn't allow it and IE was slow about it. Some laptops are underpowered, have you tried waiting a bit to see if the hover will show?
I also know that in the Problems & Bugs forum, there's a sticky thread that addresses many common wardrobe issues. Have you tried any of the solutions proposed there out yet?
Okay. I have never heard of Silverlight. I can remove all of my items im wearing but the hover and applying doesn't work. I just wondered if it was something wrong with Subeta.. Thank you for the info on this.
Thank you very much for your reply. I know she is using Windows 8, with IE (neither one of us know what silverlight is) .. but the hover didn't seem to appear.. and she couldn't even click on an item in her wardrobe to put it on. I might check the problems and bugs forurms... and see if anyone can help us there. Thanks again.. and sorry for the ping.. I will be more patient next time and just see if you see my question. She was just trying to get into her wardrobe to change and couldn't... and I know how frustrating that is. ;)
Oh, I'm so sorry. I've been hearing that Windows 8 is chock full of problems. Maybe your first order of business is to look and see if there are some patches (maybe they will call them updates or service packs) for it already available on the Microsoft official webpages and download them.
Silverlight is like Flash or QuickTime, it's an add-on that allows you to see motion. Only it's the Microsoft version. It sucks. Not only that the Microsoft spyware that gets glommed on with it will turn your computer into pure molassess in January. If you add Adobe Flash and QuickTime to your daughter's computer, then you can usually get away with doing a disable on Silverlight
Oh brother... that's not good. She just got the laptop as a birthday present from her dad. He deliberately waited until now to get it so it would have Windows 8 on it.
We downloaded Firefox on it and her wardrobe is better. She can at least preview stuff now and put stuff on. But her windows are kind of messed up.. her preview window is over top of the box that shows what she is already wearing. =/ Better, but not good.
I have basically done away with Microsoft on both of my computers.. I am running Ubuntu and haven't had any trouble. Yet. :P
Thanks for the clue in on Silverlight also. Is it new?
