I just acquired a somewhat older laptop, and I can't get videos to play properly (referring to Windows Media Player, not the internet). Audio works, but video doesn't. I've tried looking through windows troubleshooting and other "help" things, and I think the problem is that I need a new/updated driver, but I'm not sure, nor do I know how/where to get the right driver. (Side note: I have it set to download codecs automatically, so I assume that shouldn't be the problem.)

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

(I have Windows XP, if that's important.)

Windows Media Player is a pain. I recommend you try VLC, it's free and should be able to play anything you throw at it.

Thank you, I'll look into it.

I was afraid no one would respond to this, what with Masquerade starting.

**YES, IT WORKS. THANK YOU.

I see you already had it suggested, but I also vouch for VLC, it's an awesome media player :)
