To make a long story short, I need to finish these math problems which I am told are 5th grade math. I worked them all out a few times each and keep coming up with the same answers.. but something about them is off.. looking for someone to help check my answers.

  1. Alexandria is selling jars of homemade blueberry and strawberry jam at the local fair. She sells the jam in boxes. Each box has one kind of jam, and all boxes have the same number of jars. She has 48 jars of blueberry jam and 27 jars of strawberry jam. What is the greatest number of jars she can put in each box? (My answer is 3).

  2. Simplify 17 – 45 ÷ 5 + 7 x 3 + 0.4 x 3 = (My answer is 30.2)

  3. Jalyssa and Kyle have to decorate a tree for their grandmother. Jalyssa has a string of lights that is 5 feet 7 inches long and Kyle has a string of lights that is 2 yards, 2 feet, and 3 inches long. How many total inches of lights do Kyle and Jalyssa have together? (My answer is 166).

  4. What number comes next in this sequence? 7, 19, 55, 163, ___ (My answer is 487).

  5. At the beginning of each hour from 1 o'clock AM to noon and from 1 o'clock PM to midnight a coo-coo clock's coo-coo bird coo-coos the number of times equal to the number of the hour. In addition, the coo-coo clock's coo-coo bird coo-coos a single time at 30 minutes past each hour. How many times does the coo-coo bird coo-coo from 12:42 PM on Monday until 3:42 AM on Wednesday? (My answer is 279).

  1. The answer is 3 since 27 is only divisible by 3 and 9, and 48 goes into 3 but not 9. (Must either be large jars or small boxes... or both x: )

  2. I got 13.8, I am aware of PODMAS although at the end of my 4th year in High School my teacher said it was irrelevant so I just did all the calculations in order. (I could be wrong in which it's needed here though, in which case the answer would be -14.2)

  3. 166 inches, after using google convert >_>"

  4. The sequence is n2 = n + 2n - 2 (n2 being the number you wish to get and n being the previous number in the sequence), so the answer would be 487

  5. I gave up on this one as i'm no good with time i'm afraid, sorry! ><

Hope this helps though X:

Your answer of 30.2 is in fact correct for the second one, according to PEMDAS.

When I was in fifth grade my teacher had a mnemonic device for it, "Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally", and I never forgot it because I actually have an Aunt Sally. So the order goes Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, and Addition/Subtraction which are interchangeable.
