Hi all :) I'm working on this sketch thing here: click but I just cant get that hand right haha. The fingers on it just look strange however i do them because of the angle, and now I look at it the arm might be a bit off too actually. Could someone tell me how to fix it or sketch over it or something? She's meant to be resting her arm on the counter with her hand over the front of it. Thanks :)
I tried to do a redline for you, here. And then I noticed you said only the hand was supposed to be over the counter. I fail. Anyway, if that'd be the case: the arm would still go over the counter a bit, starting from above the wrist. The hand itself would remain the same as in the redline.
To draw the hand, try drawing a cylinder first: the forefarm. From that cylinder, connected by... something like a sphere comes a cuboid which has to be curved. On the cuboid draw 4 circles, and from the circles draw the fingers as cylinders.
Now, the figure itself looks a bit stiff, and it lacks depth. The easiest (and the fastest) way of dealing with that is trying to build your figures from reference. Posemaniacs has pretty good full body refs. In the long run, learning basic anatomy and, generally, observing how the human body bends would help a lot. This pose for example has the same... idea behind it, and looks more natural and realistic
May I ask if the character is an OC and if not, where is she from? :D
Aaaand I'm done. Hope this helped a little. Good luck! Feel free to sMail me if you need any help or if you want me to draw a tutorial for the hand/fingers. :)
thank you so much :D I've never been any good at drawing people in positions that aren't 'standing awkwardly, maybe holding something' haha, so I'll check out the site and try to draw more 3D sketches instead of just guessing as much
And she is an OC, although she doesn't have a name yet. I was messing around with ideas for my pet Dish :)
edit: (sorry if it pings you twice) Updated version here! Now with proper lines lol, how does this one look?
